Water birth and managed 3rd stage

Hi all
I have been advised to have a managed 3rd stage of labour when I have my first baby in a few weeks time as I have a fibroid which means I'm at a slightly higher risk of excess bleeding (although it's right at the top of my uterus and the less risky type, so won't affect the actual birth of the baby). I will also have a cannula in my hand just in case they do need to give me drugs, blood etc afterwards.
I've been advised that a water birth would be possible, if the pool is available, but obviously I would have to get out straight after the birth for the syntocinon injection, controlled cord traction etc.
Has anyone had any experience of a water birth with managed 3rd stage and/or cannula? I'm not sure whether I should use the pool only for the 1st stage and then get out to push or stay in for the birth too. I'd prefer to have skin to skin contact with the baby for as long as possible and certainly while the midwives are getting on with whatever they need to down there during the 3rd stage, which might be tricky if I have to leap out of the pool immediately the baby makes its appearance. Has anyone else done this? Did you find that you got a bit cold after getting out of the pool or suddenly felt contractions much more intensely as you no longer had the cushioning effect of the water? If I'm going to feel grim after getting out then I'd almost prefer not to get in at all!
Thank you so much in advance!

I had a water birth my second child and had planned on staying in the pool breastfeeding and all that stuff. But my daughter had such a short cord it was actually incredibly uncomfortable - like a g-string on the wrong way round cutting up my labia Shock So I got out quickly ish because I was bent over in double, had the injection and then birthed the placenta on my toilet (home birth). It was fine - it wasn't straight away but it was pretty soon. I think they'd give you a bit of time to catch your breath after labouring and birthing a baby. And you can't really keep hold of the baby whilst you're pushing out the placenta so DH or whoever will be holding the baby and the MWs will be doing their checks and weighing the baby, etc.

I had water birth and managed third stage. I had intended as above on staying in pool, birthing placenta naturally and breastfeeding in pool etc. I actually ending up having a bleed before he was born so they let me stay 20mins in pool after he was born then hoicked me out sharpish and gave me the injection. They ended up having to manually manipulate the placenta too. But to be quite frank that was the least of my worries. And tbh it would have been harder to get out of pool during labour than afterwards. You really don't want to be moving positions when baby is nearly out! I also had a short cord so was uncomfortable to stay in pool longer.

And no I def wasn't cold at all! You get so ridiculously hot in labour it's such physical exercise I was glad to cook off! I kept asking for cold water to be added to the pool but they wouldn't let me otherwise it'd be too cool for when baby born 😆

Also normally cord is cut before third stage even if you opt for delayed cord clamping. We cut cord at 20mins when it stopped pulsing. Placenta followed after managed third stage about an hour after birth.

I got out of the pool during the pushing stage, and i was so warm that the midwife went and got me a fan for the remainder. It was utter bliss, so definitely no issues with suddenly being cold. Once my DD was delivered i had skin to skin , then the injection to deliver the placenta. It was all out of the way pretty quickly and i went back to skin to skin for another forty mins before having stitches for a small tear. Didn't feel like my first moments with DS were rushed which was lovely.

Thank you so much both of you Smile
It's really helpful to hear from someone who's done similar!
