Induction Scheduled Tomorrow Morning and God I'm Nervous!

My induction is scheduled for 10am tomorrow. I was feeling pretty calm but now all of a sudden feel like a deer caught in the headlights! Anyone fancy a virtual handhold in exchange for a possible live birth thread? Wink

Handhold here! Is it your first? I had very positive induction in October, is there anything in particular you're worried about?

Yes, my first and my partners second. DSS has gone to stay with his Aunt and since then I feel like I've been hit with a truck! Right now I'm mostly worried about the pain and not knowing what to expect really, I've heard that being induced is even worse. The rational part of my brain keeps telling me it will be fine but the other half is having a right old flap Wink

The thing I always say on these threads is that, whilst you're booked in for 10am, nothing may happen for quite a while. I arrived for mine (7.5 years ago now!) at 10am expecting to have the pessary by about 10.02am and the baby by that evening. I hadn't appreciated there would be another half a dozen people also booked in for the same time, we'd all need to be examined, hooked up to monitors for a while etc. Mine was unusual in that the labour ward was full so they couldn't start the induction as there was no where for an actively labouring person to go but it meant I didn't have the first pessary until 9pm! It was a very dull day during which I ate just about all of the snacks in my maternity bag

I agree with the above, I expected immediate induction but had various checks, monitoring and discussions first. Once it kicked in, I honestly didn't think the pain was that bad; but I was fully dilated fairly quickly following the start of the induction and then rushed for an EMCS. Relax into it as much as you can. Stay active once you've started the induction process and rest up tonight. Good luck and I hope your LO arrives safely and quickly.

Yes very long boring day! Lots of snacks magazines etc. Having said that, also be ready for it to be quick - we weren't so didn't have camera, babygro etc to hand - dp was dispatched to the car park to get baby bag!
I liked that I was already there so none of the 'when shall we go' guesswork, especially if it's your first.

Oh and take a coat so you can go walking round the hospital grounds. Lots of walking, lots of stairs!

Thank you everyone already! I quite like knowing when exactly to go in tbh as our plan was incredibly complicated in regards to getting to the hospital and sorting out DSS so really it's worked out kinda handy. The midwife said there would be lots of walking around tomorrow along with lots of waiting but we will see what we will see. Reading all of your posts has already calmed my nerves slightly so thank you! I think lots of this panic is coming from not quite knowing what will happen or what to expect (I plan out our lives down to tiny details usually) but hopefully once I'm there it will be a bit less scary. Go in prepared for any eventuality. You might be in for days and end up with a CS (this was me and the CS when it finally happened was wonderful), you might be holding your baby this time tomorrow.

Good luck Flowers

Okay I'm officially up it seems! DP is definately not having his usual deep sleep next to me (I can tell because there is no snoring for once!) It's going to be a very strange day I think. 10am cant come around sooner!

Had one 3 weeks ago Grin very positive experience. Pessary in at 2pm (scheduled for 10am, lots of monitoring and waiting) and gave birth to DD just after 11am the next morning.

Good luck! Go with the flow and stay calm - you're going to be in the best hands.

Baby came at 12:56pm today! She was 5lbs 11oz so a dinky little thing but otherwise rather healthy and happy!

Congratulations! How did you get on with the pain with being induced? I had to be induced as I was 10 days overdue. My boy arrived 25 hours later weighing a hefty 8lbs 9oz!
