I did, with DCs 1&2. I was adamant I didn't want that with DC3 so had cyclizine 50mg injection in my buttocks during labour (DP gave me it, I had a home birth) and it worked- no vomiting!
Put in your birth plan you need an antiemetic and make sure you ask for it.
Good luck!

I did with DD1 (although I had a massive portion of lasagne just before my waters went early, so had been feeling queasy beforehand anyway).

I was terrified on DD2 (and actually delayed TTC while I got my head around it), but I wasn't sick at all - didn't even feel queasy (possibly because had just had a light lunch before labour started).

Can't really give you much advice on how to avoid it - but on DD2 I certainly ignored the ante-natal class advice to eat a decent meal as soon as contractions started!

Didn't feel sick AT ALL

and I ate during long early stages.

I've had three dc op. Never vomited on any labour at all. Felt like I might for about two minutes in one but that's all.
My sister did but they gave her an anti-emetic which worked wonders. Put it in your birth plan.

I didn't and had eaten a huge lunch two hours before delivering DC2.

I didn't with dd1, but vomited all over the midwives hand with dd2. They gave me some cyclazine in an injection and I soon felt better.

First labour I did vomit but it was a horrific labour. I was sick once and it honestly wasn't a big deal despite my fear of vomiting.

Second labour I was not sick.

Put anti-emetics in your plan and explain your anxiety.

No not sick during labour. Felt a bit queasy during my elcs though but wasn't sick the either.

I didn't feel even slightly sick at any stage. Pretty sure my sister didn't either, in either labour. One of the pain relief drugs is more likely to make you feel queasy, so ask your midwife to make sure you're not given that one (pethidine, maybe? - mw will know). Also talk to them in advance - mine were able to put in my birth plan that I was terrified of vomiting, so they knew to do something if I started feeling sick.

I did with dd1 but only because I ate a huge snickers between contractions, completely against midwife advice. Next set of contractions it reappeared all over dh.
Next labour I skipped the chocolate and no vomiting! So my advice - no confectionery after 4 cm.

I'm usually quite a queasy person but didn't feel it at all, I was happily munching throughout too.

I was sick so they gave me an antiemetic and it worked perfectly.
Right after the birth, the same thing happened again though - I guess the first lot had worn off.

I did, but then I had the anti sickness injection and was fine after that. My midwife did ask me if I wanted it before I vomited but I didn't feel sick so said no. Whoops...

I've never heard of anyone being sick during labour!

Fellow emmetophobe here. I completly get you.
So I vomited in my first labour but it didn't feel like a bug etc so it wasn't too bad.
I then had 2 caesarian and asked for an emetic and all was fine.

I have a terrible fear of vommiting, i did vomit once in my 1st labour due to going a bit crazy on the gas and air. To be honest though everything else that was going on (pain etc ) over shadowed and it wasn't an issue. I just paced myself a bit better on the gas and air and wadn't sick again. 2nd labour didn't vomit at all (had far less gas and air).

I did with dc1 but had eaten a big dinner just before labour started.
With dc2 and dc3 I didn't but ate little and often as soon as I'd passed my due date (14 days overdue with them all)

I've got four children and I've never vomited in labour. Never even felt sick, did feel I might die at times tho Wink

I didn't . I had diamorphine as pain relief both times and told them I'd thrown up with it before so they gave me anti sickness stuff. I think it makes quite a lot of people sick so if that's your drug of choice ask for some anti sickness meds!

I did with DC1 but didn't with DC2. In fact I hadn't even realised it or thought about it until now! Try not to worry, you might not feel sick at all.

I vomited lots in all 3 labours.

I didn't know anti-emetics were a thing you could ask for though.

I did with DC1 and was later told that low blood sugar can cause you to vomit during labour. So, with DC2 I sipped lucozade and had dextrose tablets at the ready. Didn't feel sick at all!

Good luck OP! I also had anxiety around some (different) elements of birth and I had hypnotherapy for it. I do recommend it if you are up for it!

I'm an emetophobe too.

I didn't vomit in either of my labours. Tbf with DS2 there wasnt time to feel sick, I only just about had enough time to get my knickers off!

Good luck.

I didn't vomit during labour - but I did afterwards. First time I felt quesy and midwife gave me an anti emetic so I actually didn't vomit but DC2 they just let me get on with it! Was mostly bile and over in one go so not too bad.

AyeAmarok · 25/01/2017 19:19

I was vomiting lots until I was given the anti-sickness injection, it was great. Vomited again lots once it had worn off and I had tried the gas and air (which didn't work for me).

So I'd say get ask for an anti-sickness injection, and avoid G&A.
