Waters broken now a nervous wreck!

My waters broke this morning and have spent most of the day at dau waiting for them to confirm that my waters had broken (!) now at home waiting for things to happen before going in to be induced tomorrow morning if nothing does.

Throughout this pregnancy I have been so laid back about everything but now I'm feeling so many emotions I don't know what to make of it. Plus I have no idea what contractions feel like,, am I likely to wake in the middle of the night with it all kicking off or is this going to be a slow burn? It's the unknown that frightens me most I think.

Not sure im making much sense but any final words of wisdom much appreciated!!

I think everyone is apprehensive. You are probably scared as your waters broke and now you know it's all enevitable!
My contractions always started with back ache which I thought was wind.
Best of luck Flowers

Mine felt like backache and period pain in my thighs, I knew they were contractions because they came in waves and lasted around a minute. They ramped up over time from a niggle to uncomfortable, then I got so I couldn't speak during them as needed to concentrate on breathing through the pain- thus was when I knew it was time to go in.

Try not to worry, I know it's scary but it's also pretty amazing, and you'll soon be cuddling your new baby. Congratulations OP Smile

It's different for everyone but you'll be just fine. For me contractions started as period pain type feeling which increased in strength until I was mooing! (Couldn't help it). For some reason I expected the pain to be sharp but it was more like being squeezed which in hindsight was overwhelming rather than acutely painful. It was definitely doable especially once I got my hands on gas and air. Maternity units are used to first timers calling regularly - if you aren't sure about anything give them a call. Good luck!! Being emotional and overwhelmed and scared and excited all normal and you'll have your baby in your arms soon xx

Contractions are like cramp but anywhere from your lower ribcage to your back or thighs.

There are many pain relief options available, including the popular Numb From The Waist Down, and IT IS OK TO TAKE ALL THE DRUGS YOU NEED.

You'll be fine. Good luck Flowers

If your waters have gone, you are more likely to feel contractions fairly intensely from the start, so less wondering if this is it.

Best wishes
