labour can stop and start before it really gets going..

my second labour (first was induced ) started with a contraction every hour for 4 hours , and a few little ones in between, then once it got going, they were every 20 mins, then 15, then 12, then 10 etc...went to hospital when they were abut 3 -4 mins apart.

it might be the start, but you'll know if it is or not!

have a bath, relax and wait...regular contractions, that increase in intesntiy as the time between them diminishes is a good indication of labour

should try to hang on at home until contracting every 5 mins, or 3 if you can as more chance of being in established labour and making good progress when you get there

might go full term

thanks, hopefully Ill get another one soon...at least id knw i might be starting, sum1 told me 2 take 2 paracetemol and go to bed until they are really strong and regular - then they said i wont b able to sleep. If nothing else happens tonight should i take it that it was nothing or could it be contractions preparing me for the real thing? I feel like im going mad but it felt so real and painful...now its like i imagined it

OK

you are 37 weeks....chances are , you are not in labour, but hey, what do i know?

take 2 paracetomal, have a bath , a drink of raspberry leaf tea if you have it. and wait. if you sleep and you wake up in labour , great ! if you don;t then at least you will be rested.

Hello Hanifah, Its Mistiek, Sorry I did not reply to you message on my thread. I have just been so hectic with funeral arrangements etc. The funeral is on Monday .

When I saw this thread I got all excited for you as I know how fed up you are. You are 37 weeks so things must be starting to happen but dont want to get you hopes up high as it may still take weeks (here is holding thumbs for you that you wont go over due)

I have decided to have the C-sec and the consultant did move it up by 1 week so I only have 4 more weeks to go.... like you I just cant wait for it all to be over now...
Good luck and keep me posted. I wont be around from Sunday to Monday but will keep an eye out when I can to see if anyhting more is happening. Im thinking of you

I know ive written here again but I just have to ask lulumama, anyone....THIS CANT B NORMAL! ok for last few wks i dont sleep, maybe an hour here r there and cnt get comfy, back pain etc, what do u expect BUT every nite its gettn worse and TONIGHT(isay tonight cos i havent slept eventho its now morning)ive had the most unbearable excruciating pain in my back and legs, have been feeling periody for days but this is ridiculous,my legs feel like ive run a marathon and my lower back has that horrible internal pain dat only comes once a month...have tried hot bath, hot water bottle...nothing works..its not leg cramps or backache...its torture...I dont possibly see how I can go on like this...is there some light at the end of the tunnel? Can I be going into labor?Im not due to see my midwife til monday week when im almost 39 wks...Im just in so much agony I wonder should I see the gp?but I know he wont do anything r have a clue.Baby is still moving like a psycho but no pains in tummy besides that and kind of aching low down. Someone pls advise me is there anything i can do bcos Im finding it hard to manage and have slept a few hrs in the past few days. Thanks

Hanifah, it doesn't sound like the start of labour to me, but it does sound like a woman at the end of her preg!!
It's so uncomfortable at the very end, everything hurts, the baby's lying on all sorts of nerves which causes all sort of pain. I would suggest gathering as many pillows as you possibly can and put them under your hips and behind your back so that theree is less pressure on you hips and you can sleep in a semi upright position.
I also get as many duvets and blankets as I can , put them under the bed sheet. It makes a HUGE difference to how comfy you can get at night because it supports your heavy body and stops pressure points from not being able to change positon very much.
It taken me many pregs top get to this understanding .
Good luck, I'm sure you won't have long to wait now

Hanifah - I agree, you're probably not in labour yet, but you sound just like I did from about 37 - I couldn't even manage a walk down to the village shop without being in excruciating pain!

I would just try and sleep when you can - make yourself comfy on the sofa for the day and nod off when you feel like it Have you got a dh/dp or family who can make you your lunch??

Relax as much as you can. Take it easy for the next couple of weeks - everyone said to me 'oh, you'll know when you're in labour', and they were right . I remember how fed up I was before dd was born, but make the most of the time now as you'll need your energy for the birth and with your new baby

i'm afraid it is par for the course in late pregnancy ! deteox and kitty have given you some words of wisdom there ! if you are concerned, see if you can see the midwife ASAP for some reassurance and a check up x

thanks everybody!just when i thot it cudnt get any worse lol...have been sleeping with5 pillows, a maternity pillow and sumtimes cushions too...it usually gets me an hour here r there...but wow last nite was unreal...obviously u guys were right it wasnt labor...as eventually at 8 o'clock i nodded off to sleep after 2 paracetemol(i just lay stiff and embraced the pain nsteada tryna get comfy)I dont know if it was the tabs(ive been reluctant to take anything before)or sheer exhaustion but I got 3 full hours sleep, feel bit better, dh is making me brekkie now, he does practically everything for me at the mo, I dont even like2walk to the shop either...but I cant stop myself cleaning up and making dinner...maybe its time to give it a rest. My mums coming over soon to stay, inlaws wanted us to stay but I dont think id make a great impression right now. Thank you all, this site is so helpful! I REALLY do hope ive not long left, people without kids just dont understand lol
