And what size baby, quick or slow labour? Episiotomy? How did you recover?

Why are you asking. I had a small tear following a long Labour and an emergency forceps delivery

Episiotomy. Long long labour. They stitched me up.
I recovered with paracetamol and was fine after a week or so.

8lb baby btw. Yes to an episiotomy too.

Second degree tear, no episiotomy.

DD was 7lb 7 so not particularly big. It was a quick labour and quite intense!

Few stitches and recovered quickly, out and about as normal after a couple of days and no lasting effects.

It took ages for me to feel right again but I don't think it was the tear... although could have been on reflection

I have to decide on vbac or repeat elcs. I know that I'll never know the answer but my concern is over going for vbac and ending up with emcs, or a severe tear which will have a worse recovery than elcs, so just trying to gather info.....

Second degree tear with DC2 (DC1 was c section), no episiotomy. 5 lb 11, labour 50 mins. Stitched up, no problems with recovery.

First time second degree tear and stitches, baby was 6lbs5 or something like that. Slow birth induced and epidural.

Second time second degree tear and stitches, baby about 5lbs10 I think. Normal birth.

Third time no tearing and minor grazing, baby almost 7lbs. Normal birth but gave birth on my side and one foot on midwive's shoulder I think 😆.

First time I got an infection and recovered over a 6 months. Second time I used arnica drops and recovered in a few months. Third time, although no tearing I still have butt problems and it's 3 years on.

Episiotomy, ventouse, 2nd degree tear, 7lb 2 baby.

The tear was actually, of all the childbirthy things, the easiest recovery. I didn't know I'd had it after a few days.

Second degree year after a fast labour. No interventions. Four different people stuck a finger up my bum because it was unclear whether the tear had gone through (it hadn't). I healed pretty quickly however I suspect that the midwife slightly overstitched because sex is quite tender at times and DP said it feels a bit tighter.

Oh baby was 7lb 5oz

Two big babies. Tore and stitched both times, but quick recovery- out and about within days.

8lb 4 baby. No instruments, no episiotomy. Had a labial graze that needed one small stitch, and a tiny second degree tear that was I believe at the side rather than perineal (never figured out quite where) that also reqd one stitch.

(Was in labour at home 11pm-7am, arrived at hospital 7.30am, checked by a midwife around 8.30 and was fully dilated. Waters broke at 10am ... Laboured standing and all fours, and he was born lying on my side at 10.23 .... V straightforward, no need for pain relief)

Dd1 was 9lb 3oz, long labour and episiotomy. Recovered from it reasoanbly quickly.

Episiotomy with the first, slow labour, forceps delivery, average sized baby, healed up quickly with no problems at all.

Second baby average sized, slowish labour, nasty tear, loads of stitches that took weeks to heal.

Third baby quicker labour, larger baby, home birth, just a graze, no stitches.

1 - long back to back labour episiotomy to aid delivery and avoid intervention. Stitched and was horrible awful recovery.

2 - super fast labour, tore, stitched and no pain. Stitches fell out the following day!

3 - short labour but baby back to back and chin up so stuck yet no tear.

8lb 7oz baby, Episiotomy and forceps due to head being in a bit of an awkward position resulting in a 3rd degree tear and lost 3 pints of blood.

Baby is nearly 2 weeks old and I'm healing well, I was in hospital for 3 days but would have been 2 if my baby didn't have to spend a couple of days in special care.

I'm just taking paracetamol now and the pain has eased a lot, I've been out in the car, shopping and for a few walks from about day 5. Obviously I don't know about any long term effects in regards to sex etc but I'm hoping for the best! I don't think a c sect would have been an easier option but I've never had one so couldn't say really!

5lb 3oz baby, episiotomy and stitched. Labour down as 35 minutes but actually they hadn't checked dilation for ages and I couldn't feel (epidural) so could have been longer. No problems with healing, was up and about with no pain from when the epidural wore off.

DS1 I had induction, epidural, ventouse delivery - 7hr labour, 7lb5 and no tears.
DS2 was spontaneous labour, only about an hour long, 9lb, again no tears.

Episiotomy here, quite a nasty big one. Lots of stitches but wound "gaped" and didn't heal for 14 weeks - it was horrific. At the time I couldn't walk for more than a few steps, sit down or stand up without it ripping back open etc honestly awful, and I was so down about it. They told me I had PND- I didn't I was just fed up of such a painful vagina! BUT I would like to tell anyone in the same position that although it took 14 weeks to close up and 4-5 months to stop hurting, a year on it no longer hurts at all, and has healed fine, and sex is back to normal, although slightly tighter. So it probably will get better, eventually Halo

80 hour labour, 2nd degree tear, no episiotomy, DS elbow got stuck. Stitched up no problem. Didn't feel the tear and has local anaesthetic for stitches :)

Dc1 very slow labour, 7lb 8oz, no tears, small graze, one stitch. Dc2, average length labour, 8lb 13Oz, no tears, no stitches. Dc3, very fast labour (induced), 7lb 1Oz, no tears, no stitches.

I had a minor tear, caused by involuntary pushing. My labour was very long- 4 days in early labour having contractions every 20-30 minutes at first, gradually getting stronger and more frequent. Had a sweep at 3pm on the Friday, went to the birth centre at 9pm, midwife had to break my waters at 3am as head wasn't fully engaged. Baby born at 6.58am on the Saturday morning.
Small baby- 6lb 7oz.
I had a few stitches which stung a bit at first. Managed that by pouring warm water over them when using the toilet and having a shower. Within 3 weeks they'd completely healed.
