Induced tomorrow

I'm getting induced tomorrow with my first child.
Has anyone got any tips or advice on what to expect.

Equally any stories of your experiences of induction would be greatly appreciated

Take entertainment! Currently day 2 into induction and nothing is happening.

Also snacks if you are hungry as I am.

Oh no hope something happens soon for
You. Is this your first baby?

Yep, first baby. Feel free to ask anything else you need To know.

I'm being inducted 'early' due to gestational diabetes but am actually now 39+4 so not that early! First pessary hasn't worked so I've got another one in now for another 24 hours. If that opens my cervix enough, midwife will break my waters and hope that triggers it. I haven't been offered the drip yet, I hear that can make labour much more painful

Also, pack earplugs or something similar if they're keeping you in , it's noisy on wards at 3am!

Hope everything speeds up for
You soon!

I'm getting induced as I'm 41 weeks. Baby isn't even engaged yet though so expecting a rough ride.

Let me know how you get on X

It was a while ago now but I remember it taking ages. Two pessaries quite far apart, a wait, then breaking waters, wait, then drip etc. I got 'stuck' for a while at 5cm after the second pessary, no idea why. I would imagine it really varies. I ended up with an epidural and forceps but having gone over it with a mw recently it was because my son never really got himself into the right position and was BIG. He arrived OK though and we were all fine. Smile

Nothing from me Sad 2 pessaries have done literally nothing so still here

If you want hope though, every other woman here seems to have moved through to labour ...

Well mine was the opposite ladies. I had my pessary at 5pm but 5.3pm I was having regular contractions. Midwifes said I couldn't be and wouldn't give me any pain relief.

Waters broke at 7.10pm they finally agreed to check cervix at 7.40pm and was fully dilated. Had to be cut as cord, forceps etc as cord was wrapped around her neck. Baby born at 8.25pm weighing 8lb 10oz. No time for any pain relief other than gas and air.

Still nothing from me - ironic I was induced early but I reckon will end up going past the date!

I was induced last week and agree it can be a long process so take lots of books/I pad etc.

Ps. Labour hurts regardless. Don't worry about whether it's more painful or not as you'll just get yourself worked up.

If any consolation I had the exact same experience on my first, told to rest then overnight. Waters suddenly popped on their own, contractions appeared v quickly and my baby was born less than five hours later.

Congrats to those who have delivered.
