Did your DC2 come earlier/quicker than DC1?

I'm getting to the end now (39+2) and went over with DD1 (40+5). Everyone around me is convinced baby is coming any day but I'm trying not to get excited/ think too much or I'll drive myself mad!

Intrigued to know stories of DC2 to pass the time please! Did they come earlier or later and was the second labour really quicker?

PS. No horror stories please! Confused

DD and DS came on exactly the same day - 40+4. But the labours were very different! DS (my first) was a long 40 hour painful slog, DD came in under 3 hours from the first twinge. It was brilliant as I'd dreaded having such a long labour again!

Ds1 39+1 labour= 2 hours

Ds2 35 +2 labour = 90 mins

Dd 35 labour = 30 mins.

Total hours in labour for 3 dc = 4 hours Grin

No horror stories here.
Also have had more pain in the hairdressers than labour, although very painful very quickly. No build up at all.

5 days earlier. Labour longer by 15 mins but so easy- 4 minute second stage :)

DS1 came at 39+2, but DS2 hung on in there until 40+5 which felt like an eternity as I thought I'd go early again.

It was a much easier, quicker birth though.

DS3 also came at 39+2, and his birth was quicker and easier again.

Funnily enough, DS2 still likes to take his time and is always late for everything Grin

No. DS2 was later and took (much) longer (DS1 was not a quick labour in the first place).

I'll spare you the horror story though. Turns out that my pelvis is, in fact, riddled with inflammation that makes me particularly crap at childbirth. I assume that yours is not utterly rubbish so you'all be much better at it than me. Grin

Exactly the same length of pregnancy, second child quicker.
Ds1 labour started 36+6 @ 10.30pm & born 37+0 @ 00.36am
Ds2 labour started 36+6 @ 11.40pm & born 11.55pm.

Nope and nope!
Second time had contractions on and off for four days after due date but actual labour was about the same length once I got going. Epidural with first and not the second (not by choice!) and it was pretty sore but have nothing to compare it to as was pleasantly numb for much of the first one.
Good luck!

Ds1 39+6 got to hospital and had him 20 minutes later

DS2 39+5 DH made me go in earlier because he shit himself last time so got to hospital and had him within the hour

DD1 39+5 DH went crazy when I asked him if we could walk around the block... Chucked me in the car and had her within the hour too!

Nope.

Mine have come progressively later and labours have been progressively longer.

DS1 came at 41+2 and was a 10 hour labour and delivery.

DS2 came at 41+4 and was a 17 hour labour and delivery.

DD1 came at 42 weeks exactly and was a 28 hour labour and delivery.

Both were around due date...DS2 possibly a day sooner than DS1.

Second labour and birth quicker by hours and hours...and that was with a 10 year gap.

Good luck!

Both of mine came one day after due date.

DS: from first contraction to birth was about 9 hours

DD: I was sitting on the couch having a cup of tea and a cheese sandwich at 1:30pm; no sign of labour at all. She arrived at 3:30 pm (we just made it to the hospital in time).

Good luck, OP!

DD was born at 40+1 with 37 hours between waters breaking and birth.

DS was born at 39+6 with 8 hours between first contraction and birth.

So my labours started the day before my due date both times but DS was significantly quicker to arrive!

Ds1 was two weeks late. But Ds2 was two weeks early. Ds1 was induced and took 36hours. Ds2 took around around 20 hours from first contraction to production.

Second time around for me was much easier... Smile

DS1 - one day early, 4 hour labour, no pain relief.

DS2 - two days late, 6.5 hour labour, G&A and I still really felt it. Smaller baby too.

I felt cheated. Grin

38+3 with DS3 now, who is measuring bloody massive. We'll see what happens there...

DC1 arrived at 40+13 after induction, approx 12 hours.

DC2 was 40+3, around 4 hours.

Good luck OP!

DC1 - about 36 hrs, 5 days late
DC2 - about 12 hrs, 4 days late
DC3 - about 4 hrs but the last stage was super quick, 4 weeks early

DS1 - born 39+2 from first twinge to birth 3 days. Waters only went just before birth.

DS2- 37+4 waters went and he was born 19hrs later.

I seem to start off slow, but it was quick from established labour for both.
