Just that really!

Am 8 days over and had resigned myself to this baby never coming out ... Contractions started about an hour ago and don't seem to be affected by changing position... Sounds guess this is it!

Ooh good luck! How far apart are the contractions? I know from experience that 8 days over feels like forever... Hope it's all goes smoothly and quickly!

How exciting! I do love a live birth thread.

Do you know what you are having.

No we've kept this a surprise.

They're about 6 minutes apart at the moment :)

Hi golden!
My parents have just hopped in the car - they're the designated DS carers. They've got a bit of a drive though -1.5 hrs - so hopefully will be. At least that long before o need to move!

They need to get a move on, then! Have you got everything ready for the hospital? Have you got food and drink? Phoned the hospital?

I had dc2 yesterday. Was going to pop back on the other thread and update when I saw this one. Hope things go really well for you! Looks like you've avoided the no-induction chat after all!

Ok so with a second baby things can move quickly. Probably will be nice and steady and loads of time for your parents to arrive but if the contractions really hot up and are close together and/or you feel like your bottom is going to explode, don't muck around, just call an ambulance. I've lost count of the number of people I know who've had really quick second deliveries, often involving inept husbands assisting in bathrooms.....

lol it does look that way! Guess I'll need to cancel the scan appointment and whatnot too!

I'm thinking my parents are probably going to set the record for driving time... Probably the best night of the week to avoid traffic though!

Food and drink are sorted although am feeling a bit pukey.
When do you phone the hospital?

How long are the contractions? Unless your waters gave broken you can wait till the contractions are well established to ring.

Report
Dilligufdarling · 02/10/2016 23:37

They're now 1.20 mins every 4:30.

Waters haven't gone yet, but we are half an hour drive from the hosp

I think you should phone the hospital now and warn them you'll be in later.

Report
Northernlurker · 02/10/2016 23:39

Hmmm have you got a friend or neighbour who can come and sit in the house till your parents arrive in case you need to get going. If they get much closer together I think you need to be on the way. Better to arrive in plenty of time than have contractions ramp up whilst you are still on the road.

Report
Northernlurker · 02/10/2016 23:40

And yes phone now, contractions that last over a minute at eight days overdue aren't going to peter out.

Report
PonderingLikeAPond · 02/10/2016 23:42

Yep to phoning. Usually with second babies theyd rather see you than try and keep you at home.

How long till parents arrive?

Id so not mind at all if a neighbour knocked me up for something like this even if I only vaguely knew them. Your folks will get there before ds wakes for the morning so its only a short favour.

From what op said earlier parents could be another hour away and the it's half an hour to hospital. Definitely need somebody to sit in house I think.
