Chances of spontaneous labour 2nd preg

So with my first dd I was induced at 12 days over with pessary, then broke my waters, then on hormone drip for 13 hours and still only got to 3cm and didn't consider myself in labour wasn't in a lot of discomfort and had no pain relief. So it was eventually decided I have c-section for failed induction at 15 days over!!!

I was really gutted I didn't have a natural birth or even labour so really hoping for a vbac, especially as we will only be having 2, but not going into active labour after all the indcuction methods and being 15 days over I am really worried it just won't happen again!

Any similar experiences??? Good or bad much appreciated. Thanks in advance x

Watching as your experience of first delivery is exactly the same as mine.
Induced at +12. Section at +15.
Wonder what will happen next time around.
I don't want to be induced again, it was awful. But DS was big (11lb+!) so would need next baby to spontaneously come before say 40 weeks (any later and it could be massive like DS) or a section.

Yes. DC1 induced at 12 days overdue, arrived 48h later. Long, slow and in the end very painful.

DC2 arrived 39+5, spontaneous, natural labour. Natural delivery about 16h later, active labour only around 5h though.

It can happen, DC2 was also a whole 2lb smaller!

Was induced with number 1 & 2 as went over
Number 3 was looking the same but went spontaneous at 10 days over

Induced at 10 days over with DS1. Ended up with epidural, ventouse, rescus, NICU... DS2 practically fell out without me realising. 4 days late but v fast and v straightforward, other than me not realising it could be quite so quick and straightforward and therefore only just getting to delivery on time...

Wow this is encouraging! 😀

Also with dd I stopped work at 35 weeks as I am a chef in Royal Mail and it was December so our workload at least doubles with all the Xmas casual workers but we get no extra help and didn't fancy that being heavily pregnant! And as was my first I relaxed a lot and being Xmas ate a lot!

So this time planning on working to 37 weeks, not overeating and no such luck relaxing with a 20 month old dd!!! Hopefully this will help with spontaneous labour! X

I was induced (pessary only) at 42 weeks with ds1 and went into spontaneous labour with ds2 at 41+3 (and at 40+4 with ds3).

Forgot to mention the consultant has already said she won't induce me again because it didn't work. She would break my waters only if I look favourable at 40+7 or straight to section so fingers crossed! X

I'm glad I found this. I had a sweep at 41+4 contractions started 41+5 waters were broken at 42, followed by hormone drip to speed me up and baby born by EMCS at 42+1. I'm 9-10 weeks in now and have to start thinking about VBAC vs ELCS I was assuming that id never start naturally but you have given me hope.

Butter puff if u started having contractions day after sweep I would class that as natural 😀. I had sweeps too but contractions only started after pessary for 30 hours, then waited to go to labour ward for 21 hours, then they broke my waters and put me on the hormone drip and they eventually started but even after being on the drip for 13 hours, including at the max of 32mls for 8 hours they weren't really bothering me! Midwife covering my ones break couldn't believe it she assumed I'd had an epidural as I should be in savage pain with what I'd had!

Fingers crossed for all of us hoping for a vbac! X

Good luck! Hope labour is imminent for you.

I'm 35 weeks with my second and praying for a spontaneous labour this time around after a shitty but successful induction last time at 40+16.

Come back and let us know how you get on Smile

Watching this post with interest! Good luck OP and all the ladies in the same position, hope you go naturallly, soon. I was induced with my first 2 weeks over and ended up with an epidural, forceps and episiotomy. I didn't want any of this, and I am so desperate for a natural labour this time! Due on Sunday and had cramps off and on for the last week so fingers crossed!

I was induced the first time at +12 and DS came along at +14. Was completely resigned to being induced again with DD (20 month gap too!) and went overdue again. Was supposed to be induced on the morning of day +12 again, but she turned up the night before with no prior warning. She still likes doing things at the last minute on her own terms Grin My labour was completely different too, first labour was incredibly painful, ended up with epidural, drip to speed it up, 1.5 hour pushing stage etc etc. With DD, I didn't even consider pain relief, I only went to hospital to double check if my waters were broken, was found to be 4cm and she was born an hour later Confused.
Good luck, it does sound like all the BHs etc are doing something, so hopefully shouldn't be too long now Smile

Hi everyone!

So my daughter finally arrived 11 days late!

Had another sweep at 9 days over, contractions all that night and waters trickled with meconium. Went to hospital they sped things up on drip. After hours more contractions I was only 3cm and importantly the consultant said my pelvis was too narrow so even if I made it to 10cm baby would get stuck so needed another section.

Not the result I wanted but she is here safe and sound and I DID go into labour on my own so it is possible! X
