Scar looks fine, no redness etc but it's so stingy! Is that normal? It hurts inside too but I'm guessing that's internal stitches :(

I would say normal.
Are you still in hospital? Ask someone to take a look at it or if you're at home, presumably the midwife will be coming round? Mine hurt inside and out for a good couple of weeks, and I was on morphine for the first 5 days.
You've had major surgery, don't rush the recovery!!!
And congratulations!

At 3 days I was for both Elcs still on codeine based painkillers. I felt nothing.

You shouldn't feel anything if you are on the right meds.

Sorry, I take that last sentence back. I meant to say, make sure you're on the right (max) meds. Obviously with all the meds in world some times there is still pain.

Normal I think, mine was sore for a good couple of weeks.

Take it reallllly easy and let yourself heal.

Mine looked fine the following day and there was no redness either but it did hurt when I sat up or stood up. Does it hurt when you aren't moving or do anything because if so, I would suggest speaking to someone.

No it doesn't hurt at all when I'm sat/laid down. It's abit stingy or itchy but that's it. It hurts internally when I cough or stretch

Normal. It's going to feel sore and tender for a while yet. Please make sure you're resting and not doing much.

Have you got big pants and high waist leggings / pj's? Clothes will rub it and make it feel worse if you're not careful.

Yep massive pants, and I'm putting a pad on it to protect it. Airing it out and drying it with a hairdryer after I shower x

Really don't stretch yourself. I tried hard to do all the normal mummy things, had a longer recovery and developed keloids. Second time around, I just lay down bossing everyone about. no nappy chNGES. NOTHING. It healed much better, smoother, no pain.

It actually looks really good to me. That last pic isn't the best though, can't really see. Do you have a better one?

Yep, it hurts afterwards it was major surgery. I had 2 and continued with every day stuff but not lifting anything for a couple of weeks. Painkillers are your friend. If wound gets infected sudacreme is fab!

Don't dry with a hairdryer as they are full of germs. Hot, dusty breeding grounds. Pat dry and air.

I feel really poorly today. My stomach is so sore around the scar but not the scar. It's not red or anything. I ache all over and have had a headache on and off all day. I'm so exhausted though so don't think that's helping :(

Do you have a temperature? If so get checked as could be an infection. Otherwise could just be tiredness. Drink plenty of water, eat well and get someone to look after baby apart from feeds (if your breastfeeding). Just rest and let someone else do nappy changes and cooking etc. You'll feel much better soon

Report
McBassyPants · 27/07/2016 18:44

Have you been taking it easy?! You really need to initially. But as PP said, if you have a temp then get checked. Could be an infection or collection underneath

Well get to your feet up, take your painkillers and TAKE IT EASY overdoing it after major abdominal surgery is a sure fire way to end up feeling crap and ending up back in! x
