Just that really. This will be my second ELCS, third CS overall (first was EMCS), but I can't remember because it was a while ago! when the consultant booked in my ELCS with DC2. When were you given your date?

My first ELCS was for my second child's birth. It was a maternal request ELCS where I was given the date at 34w (I think ... it was 4y ago).

Watching with interest as I'm 20w pg with dc3 and want another ELCS. I have my consultant appointment on Friday.

Oh wow, really quite different points in your respective pregnancies then, Bessie and Queen?! I'm seeing my consultant at 24wks (next week) and was half hoping I might get a date then, but don't recall that being the case last time. I'll certainly ask when we'd book it in if it's not at that appt. Will be desperately trying to get him to fit it in before he goes on annual leave so he does it himself, or is at least around!!

Mine is 3rd section if that's any help, 1 EMCS and 1, soon to be 2 electives. 2nd time they agreed early on but date wasn't booked until about 30 weeks I think. 3rd time my consultant turned up at 20 week app waving the consent form and diary to book date in, I was happy to do as I was told lol! so maybe just depends on where/who you see and how far ahead they book people in? X

I am 33 weeks and have to decide on elcs or vbac by 36 weeks, which is when I next see the consultant. If I want an elcs they'll probably book me then.

Hello all experienced ELCS and those who are going for it with no medical reasons.
I really want CS I'm only 14 weeks .Please please tell me what are the best arguments to get ELCS ? I have my reasons but I don't think that would be enough . what did work for you? My next appointment in hospital is not till 27.06...
Is it possible to somehow chose the person performing CS ? Maybe you can recommend good contact for Lister hospital?

I got a text message about a week before the date (after a failed ECV for breech)

Chandelier, I think it took so long to have my first ELCS booked because the consultant saw no medical reason for me needing one, so tried to talk me out of it (I saw a very good reason and so the whole experience was incredibly stressful). I'm hoping it's easier this time! I'll post an update after Friday.

Mumtobe, I'd suggest starting your own thread and you'll surely receive lots of brilliant information on this board Smile

I'm not due to get my date until 36 weeks.

I got mine at the 20 week consultant appointment. The consultant said that he'd normally do just talk people through risks of ELCS and risks of VBAC and let them think about it, but because I had shown that I've already done my research and thought it through, he was happy that I made an informed decision, so booked me in there and then.

37 weeks, dd was born at 38 weeks. Borderline placenta previa, they kept saying it would probably move and then admitted me to be monitored at 36+4 with no warning. I was initially told they wouldn't even re scan me until 39 weeks, let alone book the c section...

I got mine yesterday at my 35 week appointment with the consultant.

Fingers crossed for you Queen. Update us!

Eeek Belvedere! Exciting times ahead! Good luck.

There does seem to be a lot of variation in when they'll book (as well as the gestation they deliver) but I guess that's down to reasons for the ELCS as much as the hospital policy.

Like you, Bessie, this will be my third and final c-section. I will have everything crossed for my consultant to get his diary out when I see him!!

I would LOVE a VBAC but that won't happen, ever. Consultant has been adamant due to the many complications I've had post c-section, plus the slight tear I have in my uterus Shock long story that this is the only route in, and advised it's the final time for both mine and baby's safety.

I wasn't given a date with my DS1! They would just say "sometime around your due date." Not at all helpful.

20w with my DS2

4w and 3d they pencilled in my c-section date with my DS3! Grin It did end up being that date.

Hello, just to update you: the consultant agreed to ELCS and will book me in at 32w (I am due to be rescanned then as they found I have a low-lying placenta today).

If it my date at 20 weeks. My next app is the week before ELCS where they will confirm it but he said it's unlikely to move
