How do I evict this baby?

Just that really. Hopefully this is the right thread.

I'm a week overdue and fed up both with the general uncomfortableness and the constant texts from everyone asking if I've had the baby yet. No I fucking haven't. Considering some of these are from my parents who are supposed to be looking after DD when I do eventually go into labour I think they should already know the answer. To make matters worse my colleague who was due 4 days after me has already had hers on Wednesday.

I've had a sweep on Monday where the doctor said my cervix was posterior and only 1cm so I wasn't exactly surprised when it didn't have the desired effect. I'm going for daily walks and mainlinng raspberry leaf tea but all other suggestions would be gratefully received. I really don't want to be induced...

Have you scheduled more sweeps? It took 3 for me to get going though after 22h of contractions following the 3rd I was still only 4cm dilated so had waters broken and then drip induction before delivery about 5h later at 42+1. Meant delivery suite rather than midwife led unit and birth pool but was fine on gas and air and had no interventions where I had feared induction would lead to epidural, forceps, CS etc.

Sex brought my labour on! Good luck!

I have another sweep scheduled for Monday but the induction is Wednesday so it would have to work quickly. Here they only allow two sweeps.

I've suggested sex to DH but to be honest I don't think he finds the huge bump attractive as it has to be the only time he turns it down!

It's the semen that triggers labour rather than the act itself - have you got a turkey baster in the house?! have definitely not considered this myself

You can't induce labour. Absolutely none of the old wives tales work. Some people will coincidentally have sex or eat curry or whatever and labour will start soon afterwards but thousands won't. Because it's coincidence. The labour starting has everything to do with being heavily pregnant snd nothing to do with pineapple or semen.

Do whatever makes you comfortable. Anything at all. Don't end up demoralised and sad because you can't start labour. In this we have no choice. Keep telling yourself that a normal pregnancy is 37-42 weeks and nothing is wrong. You're not overdue. In fact, pretend you're French; their due date is 41 weeks!

I started labkut straight after unwieldy, uncomfortable sex. I was 40+12 and we'd been shagging like idiots for weeks.

I tried the lot, plus 3 sweeps. She came when she was ready. Sorry Flowers

I had a uti a week before, went for a looong walk (3.5 miles, 38 weeks pregnant with spd- felt lik e a marathon!) And had sex. Waters went the next day. Midwife reckons the combo of uti and walk did it.

Walking, sex, nipple stimulation (use a breast pump), hang out with other little babies and breastfeeding mums (oxytocin), reflexology, acupuncture.....Try everything! I did.

Only thing I wouldn't recommend is pineapple - you need to eat tons and it just made me feel ill Confused

There's fuck all you can do I'm afraid! I tried it all...twice! Both were two weeks late so I feel your pain!

I tried everything, had a sweep at 37 weeks, was 1-2cm, cervix soft, mw was sure I'd have the baby by the weekend... I popped and had her at 40+5 four days after my second sweep and when I finally gave up trying stuff to bring on labour and instead had a lazy day on the couch.

Hot baths, walking, raspberry leaf tea, sex (semen is a prostglandin so softens cervix), clary sage essential oil (sniff it, bathe in it), evening primrose oil capsules up the, err, fanjo. Bouncing on an exercise ball (trying to get babies head to hit the cervix and start the process), nipple stimulation (releases oxytocin).
Anything that makes you poop! The digestive contractions to poo right next to a ready uterus might gee it along (hence hot curries etc). Once you get any twinges stay upright and rotate your hips or bounce on ball to try and keep things going.

To be honest though, I suspect baby will come when ready!

Mine were 40+4 and 40+5 respectively, but the exact dates I expected them on!

Good luck 😀💐

Ooh if that's the solution then let me have a moan too. I am 6 days overdue and so fed up. DP has cooked a lovely curry for tea although I keep telling him it won't work but hey, he's a good cook and it is very tasty.
Congratulations though. What a poppet!

Aww congratulations, super cute.

I clicked on this to find ways to evict mine (DC3 due next Saturday) so am now going to attempt long way today.

How to hell can number 3 still stay in when the others turn up early, fed up/worrying about intervention if it doesn't get out as should be hb :(
