Nesting instinct - how long before the birth did your start?

Or do you think it's just an old wives tale? After procrastinating for weeks I've suddenly got a massive urge to start cleaning and chucking out all my hoarded stuff.

36+4 today so I'm hoping I'm not about to go into labour just yet. Last time the urge didn't strike me until at least 38 weeks

I got a burst of energy at 38 + 1 but I didn't do any extra cleaning. I went walking all day.

Baby born at 39 + 5 after 10 days of early labour though.

I cleaned the house from top to bottom at 37 weeks pregnant. I was like a woman possessed - when I realised I had just polished the outside of my bin I went and had a lie down!

Following as I've been pathetic and in tears this morning about the state of my house and how much cleaning I need (want) to do and am stomping around with a bin bag chucking loads of 'stuff' out.

About 3 weeks. It's continued for 12 weeks post birth too!

Sparklycat- I don't think you're pathetic at all. Nesting is a really weird sensation. I've been huffing and puffing around the house thinking "how can we live like this?" when normally all the mess and chaos doesn't bother me much.

I was about 6 months pregnant and threw away so much stuff it covered my living room. I had a mad burst of it one weekend and totally over did it. I couldn't feel my hands by the end of it.

It's so strange!! I even want to chuck my toddlers toys out as they are cluttering the living room (even when neatly stacked) but I won't as that's mean Grin

I didn't think I "nested" at all with ds but then dp reminded me that we re decorated the entire house when I was around 28 weeks. I definitely did not nest with dd, I could barely muster up the energy to stand up let alone tidy up!

Not at all with my first!

Already madly nesting at 31 weeks with this one.

Mine kicked in on the morning I went into early Labour (had him early hours next morning). That morning, I gathered a lot of crap from my house and lifted it all into my car and took it directly to the dump. My husband was watching me with a raised eyebrow and I nearly left him at home because his slowness was irritating me.

Didn't happen with DC1 or 3, but had a crazy burst of it with DC2 the day before I went into labour. Cleaned like a woman possessed all day- last thing I did was make and remake the crib 3 times before I was happy- went to bed at 11pm and woke up with a show 90 mins later

37+2 today and I feel like I can't stop. It is great to feel energetic after so many months of tiredness and the last month of extreme tiredness

Never, I kept waiting for it to show up and it never did! Then suddenly I was 30 weeks pregnant and had no baby stuff so I ordered some bits online and made DH build the SnuzPod Grin
