Orgasms? Nipple stimulation? At the very least it'd be fun!

My first baby was induced and born at 42+1 but I went into spontaneous labour at 41+5 with ds2 so there's hope!

Have you tried sweeps? I was induced with DD who was born at 42+1 but had at least got to 4cm after a 3rd sweep and I think this (after 22h of contractions) helped me to manage induction with just gas and air. My body was just a bit sluggish tbh - both breaking my waters and syncotin drip had a very slow and steady impact where friends have dialated incredibly quickly on the drip.

Start trying to express collustrum. It should bring on contractions. When it does - keep going to keep them coming.

Yes agree with the above. Express some colostrum, it worked with me :-)

Your title really struck a chord with me. With DC1 I was induced 14 days after my due date and had a Max!

Thanks everyone I've had one sweep 41+2 but she was only 1cm dilated thinks she's too happy in there I've tried everything I don't think I've got any milk or clostrum yetHmm

Is today induction day? When is it happening?

Feeling your frustration tracie25 I'm 11 days overdue, will be induced tomorrow. I went +12 with ds too so I'm guessing my babies take a little longer to get the hint!

Honestly, I'd just relax and conserve your energy. Go for a walk if it makes you feel better but I don't think there's anything that is guaranteed to bring on labour. I've had 2 sweeps, lost my plug, had some mild contractions and still no baby!

Good luck with your induction; hope it's a quick and hassle-free labour Flowers

I got to 40+ 17 with my first

I tried sweeps, sex, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea , walking . Nothing worked. I had to be induced and it wasn't fun.

The next time I got to 40+19. I told them that just leaving me wouldn t work but they ignored me as what do I know , I'm only a woman.

It was worse that time as the head was engaged for 5 weeks . I warned them that the baby was even bigger this time . I was exhausted and fed up as I wasnt young and I had an 18 month old who I was still BF.

Eventually they agreed to induce me amd I went into hospital . The consultant on duty that day told me that I should never have been left so long ( in a tone that implied it was my fault ), that the baby was even bigger this time ( no shit Sherlock ) and they might as well take me straight to theatre for a CS because I would end up there anyway .

Did I mention that I'd already had the baby turned to avoid a CS?

I have no idea why my body doesn't appear to know how to start labour on its own :-(

I'm due today, and the thought of another two weeks makes me want to cry - I'm sending you lots of 'come on, get out!' thoughts.
This is my first too, and the local community midwives all come out with different old wives tales, so I'm not filled with confidence.
I wish you all the very best for when it does finally kick off, however that comes about!

Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement I've just had a phone call they want me to come in at 6 this evening so off I will go hopefully labour will not last days like someone told me and all I can do is have one last bit of patience this is my first child and I'm 38 all I've been told is your pregnancy is high risk cause of your age and bmi no surprise there I've tried everything to get her out I do at least 6,000 - 10,000 steps a day I'm very active have been throughout this whole time but now at 42 weeks nearly it's taking its toll my hormones are through the roof and I've been crying everyday for a week Confused I feel for everyone who has been 40 weeks plus as its a strain on your body as well as your mind u start to believe that something is wrong with you as everyone is asking where the baby is why isn't she here yet? Fudge me I don't know as I want that answer too

All of my 4 babies were like this. You'll be shocked ironically when she arrives :-) Have your waters gone yet? I found with mine that once the waters went the baby arrived within 12 hours. Xx

Good luck! I had my waters broken and she was here within 6 hours start to finish when the waters had gone. Remember to rest up and look after yourself afterwards! Grin

You're not actually overdue. 42 weeks is completely safe and normal. Give baby some more time. They could have easily miscalculated your due date as well.
