I seem to have two big bags, one for me and one for baby. If i stay for 2/3 nights thinkingbit might be better to combine baby stuff for first day with my stuff etc.... rather than take two bags in?

I had eveything in one suitcase. Most importantly make sure that your partner and whoever will be with you after birth knows where what is. I labelled baby clothes bags e.g. "first set of clothes" (I had a particular babygro that we later kept as keepsake), "baby's vests", etc. Also if your stuff is unpacked from original packaging, I'd also label. My partner found it very helpful. They will need to hand you things, especially on day 1, and it will spare you long explanation what is a maternity towel you are asking for...

My hospital requested I just bring the essentials for us both to start with as you will be in several different areas and beds until you get to the post natal ward and staff will move your things along with you. Then when you're settled someone can bring in the rest of your things. I found a bag for me and a bag for baby was best, and kept them on different sides of the bed. That way when staff came to help change my pad or change a nappy it was easy for me to point them to supplies rather than them rifling through a big bag full of stuff in semi darkness!

Yes a bag for baby and a bag for you. If you didn't want to take all tour/baby clothes in at once put a bag in the boot. I left baby stuff such as nappies etc in the boot beforehand then when she was here we brought things up.
I was in 4 nights. Good luck with everything. X

I had one hold-all with everything in. Stayed in 3 nights. Husband brought a few extra bits in (mainly clothes for the baby once we knew what size we needed). You really don't need that much and having everything in one place makes it much easier if you suddenly have to move rooms like I did. I looked at the size of some of the suitcases that other ladies were wheeling in and wondered how long they were planning to stay!!
