How long were you in hospital?

Obviously all births are different, and not everyone even goes to a hospital, but there was no snappier way of writing that in the title!

Just curious, really. I'm 35+4, have only one week left at work, and am starting to think about the realities of what's about to happen.

So yeah, my question is; how long did you spend in hospital/maternity unit if any time at all, before and after your birth(s)?

Thanks!

Went in at 3am ish, when contractions were 2-3mins apart and lasting 30secs each. He was born around 20 hours later - so 10pm the following night.
We were then kept in a further two nights. So three days/nights ish in total, I guess.

I was in hospital for 2 hours before my son was born in the morning. They said I could go home, but my stupid mum and sister said they didn't have the carseat so I stayed overnight and was finally discharged in the evening. So... 21 hours and 19 of those I just wanted to desperately go home!

One month.
C section and complications.
I know I could never do jail time, the month in hospital was bad enough.

I was in for a week before the birth and 6 days afterwards.

Failure to progress, baby distress followed by c section and NICU. My experience isn't typical of a low risk birth

Wait, hang on! This is another example of my maths being rubbish - I was in for 33 hours and for 31 of those hours I wanted to scratch my face off! Smile

I was in hospital for 20 mins before birth. (Well and another half hour, one hour previously and sent home 😱 Had to race back!).

Discharged 4 hrs afterwards. Straight from labour room, never had to go to ward.

Did home birth with DC2.

Went in at 8pm and had DD at 4 am with back to back labour and ventouse delivery. Stayed two nights after that as she had swallowed meconium (I hope I have spelled that correctly because my phone tried to correct it to my onion).

I was hoping to go the Midwife lead unit and have a 6 Hour discharge

I actually ended up going to the hospital unit 17 days overdue at 9am in the morning. Had an emcs at 11pm and was stuck in the bloody place for 7 very very long and frustrating days

Baby 1 - Went in Wednesday evening to be induced, very serene until Sunday afternoon when DD was born. Stayed in until Tuesday lunchtime, not sure what the delay was TBH, perhaps my potential clotting issues.
Baby 2 - Gave birth 15 mins after arriving at hospital. Stayed in for 72 hours, apparently DS had odd rash markings which they were worried about, not that they checked him at all after deciding to keep us in.

Went in at 8pm on the Sunday, DS born at 8.38am on Monday morning and discharged at 5pm on Wednesday. We were due to be discharged on Tuesday but DS developed jaundice which had to be sorted first.

I gave birth at a MLU and was there for about 6 hours, but then had an 800ml PPH and was taken to hospital. Was there three and a half days, they talked about giving me a blood transfusion but decided I could go home with iron tablets Smile
Whole thing could have been avoided if I'd been able to go for a wee during labour!

Dc1 - went in 10am, gave birth 4am following morning, stayed that night too then home the third day.
Dc2 - went in 9am, gave birth 10.20am same day, asked to go home that day but they asked me to stay the night which I did.

I had tested +ve for Strep B throughout both pregnancies and labours so they needed to observe me and babies (especially dc2 as id not had enough of the antibiotics due to such a quick labour).

I went in 2am 31st October, ds was born 6am 1st Nov and we left the hospital 6 hours after his birth so we were in 11 hours in total.

Went in Friday night about 11pm.

DD was born at 12:40 Saturday afternoon. I stayed in until the Monday because she was having trouble latching on and they needed to see her feed (she was feeding fine by late Sunday afternoon but it was a bank holiday weekend and they were super short staffed, so nobody about to do my discharge papers). Left on Monday afternoon.

Next time I'd prefer a home birth. I really did not like being on the postnatal ward.

Babies born at night. 2 nights in hospital with DC1 and 1 night (under 24 hours from admission) with DC2. Both times midwives wanted to be confident I'd established feeding before discharge, births were fine.

Born 7 hours after I came in. Was discharged 42 hours later. I needed some support with BF so they encouraged me to stay for an extra night
