period pain and backache

I've been having period pain and backache for a week now. It's constant. Last weekend I had mild contractions that wore off too. I've had 2 sweeps this week and all its done is made me lose my plug.
I've always thought period pain was the start of labour but obviously not!
Did anyone else have constant period pain near the end? I'm only 37 weeks but am being induced Monday when I turn 38 weeks.

I hope things happen for you over the weekend x

Thankyou, me too. I'm on my birthing ball trying to help her get a wriggle on but nothing yet.
It's been happening for exactly a week now but even with the 2 sweeps nothing has happened. Midwife said I was 1-2 cm but I could of been that as this is dc3. Not very helpful

I was having period like pain for about 3 weeks before I had my son I still ended up getting induced at 40+ 4 due to his size. Can I ask why they are inducing you earlier ?

They say the growth scan is showing she's not growing. Which is funny cuz the whole point of me having the growth scan was cuz they thought she was too big. They've said they'll induce me with a pessary if they can't break my waters but because of a previous emergency c section I'm only allowed one and then once waters have gone the drip. I thought I was in labour last weekend so could of avoided induction but it looks like it'll be happening Monday. What causes the constant period pain cuz I don't remember this with dc1&2

When it comes to size the really don't have a clue I was told up untill the week I had my son that he was small then had a scan the day before they decided to induce me and said he was big he was born 8lps 6oz.. I got the pessary and contractions started 2hours later and my son was born 8 hours later. I think the period like pains are due to your body preparing its self for birth. Hopefully you go into labour yourself over the weekend and you don't have to be induced. Keep me posted good luck x

Thankyou, any tips for starting labour? I've tried a curry and had pineapple today. No joy. Dp has a face abcess and is on strong painkillers as his face swollen up to his eye so sex is off the menu lol.

I had constant or a lot period pain with both mine for a good 2 or 3 weeks. Meant nothing for me. Failed induction with my first so a c-section then with my second I had period pains, cramps, mild pains etc for weeks but didn't start on my own so had another section.

Try being active! Walking, bouncing on a birthing ball, dancing (don't go ott obviously), hoovering the whole house, scrubbing the floor and walking up and down the stairs a lot. None actually worked for me mind. lol.

I tried walking, curry, sex, raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on ball. Nothing worked for me 😞

I'll probably go into labour Sunday night when I'm being induced Monday morning. I suppose I should just enjoy my last baby free weekend
