I'm due on Monday with my first (I know I shouldn't count on it 100%), we've been trying to keep busy this last week as it's dragged out so much! I'm now so out of ideas and finding myself thinking obsessively about labour, birth and all the rest of it. I keep being told to chill and relax but not sure how to I'm too excited!

So what did you do in the run up to the big day? Did you plan anything special? Ideas would be lovelyGrin

Stocked up on baby stuff and food, cleaned the house, went to the cinema. It was nice but nothing particularly special

2nd one - I spent days shopping for and stuffing party bags for DD1.

DD1 I spent sunbathing and breathing in stardrops cleaning fluid which I was obsessed with at the time

Went to the cinema.
At least once, sometimes twice a day Grin - I was in matinee showings on my own more than once…

I had this idea that once PFB was born, I'd not see a movie in the cinema again for quite some time.
Boy, was I right Hmm

DH and I went out for a special dinner the night before my induction at T+15 Grin - that was fun too.

Do something for yourself. You might not have a chance that easily again for 18 years some time.

Good luck when the time comes Thanks

Read. Had a pedicure. Had a hair cut. Basically little luxuries that I haven't had time for post baby

Dd1 was a week early. I worked until Friday, she was born Monday. Time in between was spent packing & cleaning as we were moving on the Wed.

So I was plenty busy, but probably wouldn't recommend as a distraction technique Grin

Next 2 were both a week late and I spent the last few weeks repeatedly saying "get this baby out now" or "can I have a sweep yet?". Time passed slowly.

I was in the middle of renovating my house and working.
I finished a week and a day before Ds 1 was born and I was still working when DS2 was born as he was early.

With my first I had a treat booking every daybof the week up to due date - nails, haircut, lunch with friends etc... Missed my last 2 as she came early but can't remember what they were!!
With my second I did lots with DD1 as was starting to feel guilty...

Last days of pregnancy I was overdue (he was 40+12). I made cookies for induction but then ate them all while still pregnant, obviously. Did pregnancy workouts on YouTube to cancel them out. We were selling our flat so chased solicitors.

With my first I walked around a golden course while my husband played; I do not like golf but the course was super quiet and surprisingly beautiful, we laughed a lot and the few miles I walked definitely had a good affect on my body!

With dd1 we went swimming the the Dolphins...

With ds1... Cinema and lots of time in the pool...

Ds2 spent the day before walking around Asias biggest bird bird trying to entertain the two children...8 hours later went into premature labour Shock

I would relax, read a book, paint nails, make my favourite dinner, cinema...in fact anything that will become impossible for a while with a newborn

Walked a mile to the yoga studio everyday to do pregnancy yoga, tidied the house a bit, went to brunch a lot. Probably should've spent some of that time packing my hospital bag rather than waiting til I went into labour but hey ho, what's done is done!

Am very jealous of all your pre birth activities. I had bad Spd and was housebound by the end. I spent mine napping and watching tv, was so bored by the end was glad to be able to walk again after she was born.

I just read books with my feet up, went for lunch, had nails done. Then the day my waters broke I had been cleaning my car out!

We went out for lots of lunches and dinners together, to make the most if it whilst we could. Mainly spent quality time together and went for a lot of walks.

Family history of birth at 37 weeks. I "knew" I'd go that way.

Booked myself an at home facial, pedicure, Indian head massage, eyebrows for 37+3 which was last Thursday.

The final beauty treatment I.e. The pedicure ended at 6 pm

Waters went at 9 pm.

All sounds brilliant, particularly liking the beauty treatments! I'd love to do some baking but my temporary studio doesn't have an oven sob. Keep 'em coming ladies I'm going to try and give myself a few targets to reach mainly the tv remote and packet of mini rolls

With my 1st I spent the last few weeks painting the nursery, washing all the clothes, building the nursery furniture, napping & eating lots of chocolate whilst watching lots of films I'd always wanted to see.

With my 2nd I had a feeling he was gonna be late (he arrived at 41+6) so I tried to keep myself occupied. I continued taking my daughter swimming, went to the park, cooked lots to freeze including making lots of flap jack in preparation for labour (ate quite a few batches of that). But I also ate chocolate & napped on the sofa whilst my daughter watched Peppa Pig. My advice is to keep yourself busy. Plan at least 1 thing every day (even if that's just watching a film or reading a book) but otherwise do as much or as little as you feel up to. Try not to think about due dates though as its more of a due month & you never know when they'll arrive & if you've pinned your hopes on your baby arriving at 40 weeks & they don't arrive till 42 weeks that'll feel like an eternity x

Had a planned induction on the monday.

Saturday morning: went to curries to buy a washing machine, which broke down the night before. Delivery arranged for next day
Saturday evening: went to hospital with reduced movement. All fine but had high blood pressure and dr offered to keep me in and start my induction the next day. Paniced about what to do because washing machine was being delivered the next day, eventually went home!
Sunday: back to hospital for monitoring and BP check,my mum took delivery of washing machine!

Had a lot of "last meals out" which ended up being about 10 as I went 2 weeks over.

I've got 2 weeks to go with my second. I don't really like pamper treatments so apart from keeping ds1 entertained this week during half term, as of next week I will be spoiling myself by popping to the local Costa for lattes and their mozarella, pesto and tomato paninis (bloody gorgeous), napping on the sofa, watching Doctors on iPlayer and reading the very first and last Terry Pratchett books...and doing the last lot of cleaning unless hubby fancies doing itbefore bump arrives. That's the plan anyway. Good luck and enjoy whatever you decided to do!

I had a Brazilian blowdry treatment which was absolutely brilliant and has made my thick wavy hair ultra-easy to keep looking good with minimal effort for the last 3 months. Prior to that I had been a salon blowdry addict. If it suits your hair type it's The Business.
