19 hours and counting of false labour

Waters broke at 1 o clock this morning and I've been having uterine contractions every 10-20 minutes since then. Baby is clearly not ready to come out but I was really hoping to avoid being induced as I had the pessaries to speed things up with my first child and it was so painful.
My husband's popped home to put our son to bed and I'm just feeling very sorry for myself really! Sad

Walk walk walk...that's what worked for me. Stairs, circuits of the hospital, up and down the corridor.

It is the most disheartening feeling when you are contracting but they are "ineffective " (that's what my midwife called mine!).

Good luck and hopefully you will have your newborn very soon.

Thank you, I need to stop lying down wallowing in my own self-pity and start bouncing/walking! He can't stay in forever, right?'

Exactly Grin!

To be honest bouncing did bugger all for me but the walking definitely got him down and pushing on my cervix. Also there are some yoga positions where you kind of hold a lunge posture which are meant to help...it depends how much space/privacy you have on the ward at the moment though!

Its so disheartening isn't it? Like nolonger I walked, and walked and walked. Mostly up and down stairs. After 8 hours they sent me home as I was "ineffective" and was told to return the next morning for induction. Once I accepted that induction was extremely likely, I kind of relaxed about it a bit and the contractions got regular and strong. I was back on the ward 4 hours later. Good luck
