Weak legs after C-section

Hi I had a C-section 5 weeks ago and since then, my legs have been incredibly weak. Just going up the stairs is so hard and I have to put both feet on each step as they are so weak.

I'm worried that this might have been caused by the epidural and it may have damaged my spine, affecting my legs.

Has anyone else had this, or know anything about it?

Thanks, Sarah

Have you mentioned this to your midwife/GP?

No, but I will see my GP. It only occurred to me today that the weakness might have been caused by the epidural.

Please see your doctor. I had this, just in one leg. I couldn't feel my toes at all and couldn't lift this leg very well. I was referred for physio which helped, then fell pregnant again and the symptoms disappeared. I'm not suggesting getting pregnant is the cure though! The physio suggested that the epidural could have been to blame, the anesthetist said it was hormonal, so I'm not sure what caused it. Please try to be referred for physio as it will help Flowers

Hi, thanks of your reply. Yes, I'll see my GP about it although she's useless and will probably just tell me to give it time and it will pass, as she does with everything!

I also contacted the hospital and they said I should go in tomorrow morning to see a senior anaesthetist. I'm not sure what they'll be able to do, maybe there are some tests they can do to assess nerve damage. I actually think the best person to see would be a neurologist as they specialise in anything to do with the nerves.

I'm really hoping this is something which will pass in time and that I won't be left like this permanently.

I'm glad your symptoms disappeared.
