Too late for a hospital change?

I'm 40+2, planning a home birth but booked in to be induced on Saturday due to baby being on the small side.

Ive consistently felt uneasy about the service provided by the default local hospital and this has extended to the service provided by the midwives on their visits and appointments.

Ive been messed about so much and my confidence in them is completely shaken. They've also put me off a home birth so now im in the awkward position of wanting to avoid the hospital if possible but not trusting them with my home birth.

There is another hospital that comes highly recomended that is only a few miles further than current hospital. Is it possible at this very late stage to go there instead should I be lucky enough to go into labour naturally before Saturday?

How would I go about it? I can't just turn up can I?

You can just turn up but you have to accept some suspicions will be raised as there are sadly some folks who'll chop and change units to avoid certain authorities finding them (eg social services). Ring them and ask? They can't stop you arriving in labour, you've every right and if you take your other notes etc they will have your info. But you'll probably be questioned a lot about your motives and potentially have to stay in a bit longer to make sure there's nothing you're trying to hide!

That's interesting brionius, Id not thought of that aspect of people trying to hide.

I'll ring them and ask, I don't want to ask the current hospital! Ive got an appointment there this afternoon and will voice my concerns in a diplomatic way without mentioning the possibility of changing.

I should've just bitten the bullet when I was first let down by them!
