Childbirth

Postpartum blood loss

So after giving birth to DD1 I had a small PPH, then a moderate PPH after DD2 was born (around 1.5L). Both were despite active 3rd stage management.

Am I likely to have an even more significant bleed 3rd time round?

Has anyone had a PPH then gone on to have no problems in future deliveries?

I've had two deliveries and two PPHs (around 1200ml each time). Second delivery was managed with a load of drugs for the third stage. My OB anticipated a PPH second time, hence a lot of management. He anticipated a bigger bleed, but with management and drugs it was around the same.

I had a 1.75l PPH after my first and nothing notable after my second. They were monitoring me very closely for blood loss but nothing untoward happened.

I had an over 1.0 litre PPH with my 1st. Was watched for during subsequent deliveries and I needed to have a cannula in my hand for all my subsequent labours but I went on to have 3 more babies and no more PPH's.

Oh great that's very reassuring thanks! I have been a bit worried I am likely to have a major bleed next time as i heard your bleeding gets worse each time, but great to know that's not necessarily the case :)
