Hi ladies,
My first baby will be born via ELCS at some stage tomorrow. He/she is breech. I have been very calm all along, but suddenly feel very nervous!! Because....
I've never had an operation.
My whole life is about to change forever.
I want to bf but am a bit nervous in case I can't!
I don't know what answers I'm looking for really, but any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

It will be the best day of your life. In 24 short hours the tiniest little life will be curled on your chest and you will be a mother. The operation is the briefest sneeze of time. I had two. They were glorious and weird and lovely. Nothing to fear. The baby will transcend all of that.

Good luck for tomorrow !

I have had EMCS and ELCS. They were both fine but the latter was calm and a really good experience. I wasn't expecting to shake during the op but apparently it is normal. There were quite a few people in the room but all friendly and kind, DH was allowed to ask questions and watch and it felt very relaxed. We did have a long wait before theatre because there were several EMCS but having been one of those previously it was fine.

Never had any probs bf 'ing after but couldn't move well so made DH arrange nappies, drinks and snacks in reach before he left for the night. Oh, and take the painkillers you are offered before you feel the pain. Hope it goes well!

I had a csection four weeks ago with my first baby. It was a wonderful, magical day and I'd relive it every day if I could.

The procedure is fine. Painless and everyone was very supportive and gentle with me.

I asked them to lower the screen and my husband filmed her being lifted out. They put her on my chest/neck and she breastfed as soon as we got back to my room.

My milk took four/five days to properly come in and they wanted me to formula feed but I stuck to my guns and we're doing fine now.

I can't tell you what a moment it was to have her placed on me. It was incredible. Enjoy every second xxx

Thanks for the reassurance on here. Baby Leo was born yesterday. I'm so happy!! Section went amazingly well, apart from,he got a little cut on his bum on the way out. It is not deep though and he's fine. I was also very sick in the evening but that passed and his dad was great. All in all couldn't be happier!
