Hi

I'm not pregnant yet.. but forward planning and all that :) I'm undergoing some fertility treatment and am new to the area.

I've heard Crowborough birthing centre is being taken over? Also I could be seen as high risk so may not have the choice to go there.. Tunbridge Wells ( Pembury) seems to be under review due to being poor in several areas... does anyone know of a good, safe hospital nearby to have a baby?

Thank you very much.

I've had a fair bit to do with pembury's various materity teams and have found them to be fabulous. Other mum's I know have had the odd complaint but nothing major. It's modern with all private rooms meaning that they can be relaxed about partners staying.

My midwife was based in crowborough which is obviously very different to pembury but also great.

Forgot to mention, the slight downside to pembury is that it can get very busy with loads of out of trust patients because it's considered to be the best in the area.

Welcome to crowborough by the way :)

Hi there Moomoi

Thank you for that :)

Have you seen the latest in the paper though last Friday re Pembury? bit worrying!

I'm praying I'm a mum soon! :) thanks so much for your help.

I guess living in Crowborough you will only have a couple of choices of what hospital you can go to anyway? xx

I've been trying to google to find out what it says but can't find it. We survived:)

This getting and staying pregnant business is all very stressful, hope it all works out for you. We you do get there talk to the crowborough team, they'll keep you straight.

Hiya

It's in the Kent & Sussex Courier, Feb 6th page 6 titled 'Hospital told it must make Improvements',

Maternity and gynaecology - requires improvement :(

I think I better get a plan B xx

Do you mean there is a Crowborough team based there?

Hi,
I had my daughter at Pembury in September and to be honest, I couldn't fault them. My dd came 4 weeks early and spent a week in NICU. It was all so unexpected and a bit of a shock but the midwives and doctors were all wonderful. The staff, from the lunch man to the Neonatal Consultants were brilliant. Lovely private rooms which were spotless and lovely and quiet. I seriously would not hesitate to recommend them. The only downside...the traffic. Can be a pain getting there in rush hour!
Good luck!

The report is available here (sorry I don't know how to link on my phone)

I know anecdotes and statistics are very different things but I had my baby 7 weeks early at Tunbridge Wells last year, we were both in a bad way for a while and I couldn't fault the care we received. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there and will never forget some of the caring and skilled staff that helped us.
