I'd say that's very normal! I had an episiotomy mid September, started to feel better around 4-5 weeks, then it seemed to feel really bruised again 6-8 weeks (dr said it was normal as if just started doing more) i still have occasional moments now were I sit down funny or something and feel a little bruised but it doesn't hurt anymore and hasn't for a little while now! If your worried ask your docter, that's what I did and she did a great job of reassuring me

Mine took about 6 weeks...I was on the verge of thinking it would never feel normal again ! It more or less coincided with having my first period after giving birth.
You will get there !

Yeah mine was probably similar 4-6 weeks. Seemed to feel a lot worse then suddenly got better. Midwife said I looked like I'd been kicked by a horse hmm. Not fun.

Yep. 4-5 weeks here too. I made some soothing pads with witch hazel, aloe Vera and lavender oil and kept them in the freezer for when it got too sore. I think it helped the healing quite a bit.

For the first few weeks I actually showered my bits after every wee, I was so worried about infection! Blush

Have you been discharged from your midwife yet? She can always have a look for you to check.

I think lots of discomfort or smells would be more to worry about.

Hope you feel better soon. X

I took arnica tablets they helped a bit with the bruising. And yes lavender oil in a nice warm bath was very soothing. And one of those cushions you have when you have piles. I made my dh go out and buy one immediately when we got back from the hospital after having dd as I was so uncomfortable. It did take a while to get better do sounds quite normal

Look after yourself!

Mine took a little longer as my stitches burst at about 5 days.

After being checked by the MW she gave me some wound pads and witch hazel, I popped those on for a few hours a day plus 2 baths (with the baby) with a tiny bit of salt and lavender oil in and it got better fairly quickly.

Did the midwife check them at your post natal home visit?

Mine never hurt at all, I could feel a bit of tightness but it was never painful and I didn't have to take painkillers.

If you're worried get them checked out.
