Ok I'm only 6 days over with number 2. Last time went into labour naturally 4 days late. If I do have to be induced, how many days late do you have to be? Also when you go in to be induced, how long does it take? Days?
I know this will be different for everyone but am interested in stories
Thanks

You have my sympathy as I went 10 days over with DC1. I'm hoping the same doesn't happen this time, currently 38+2.

It varies from one area to another when they induce you, where I'm booked in this time it's 10 days over my last hospital was 12 days. Have you spoken to your midwife about having a stretch and sweep? Might be worth giving it a go.

I hooe things start for you soon.

Yes she offered one last week on my due date but I declined. Got another appointment at the end of this week so I'll reluctantly have the sweep then. Does it hurt?

You can be induced at any time. I was induced 2 weeks early. I was all done within 24 hours ( 12 hours after waters were broken). How long it takes will depend what they do and how ready for labour you were anyway.

I found the sweeps fine, I had two last time. They were no worse than a smear test which although not pleasant and a bit uncomfortable they don't hurt. I was 2cm dilated at my first one though so that may have made it less uncomfortable.

I'm due to have one next week at 39+1 as I'm due to be induced at 40 weeks so will try anything! If your cervix isn't favourable they won't do it as they won't be able to reach it. I'm just hoping mine is or baby turns up before!
