BF safe stool softener?

Pg with dc2, expecting painful piles based on last time, would like to have a stool softener to take immediately/soon post birth, any recommendations? A lot say consult dr if planning to bf. Could go to boots but one less cringe inducing situation to face if you can recommend one?

I had a lot of stitches after labour so Drs were keen to prevent constipation and gave me Lactulose. I was bfing so must have been safe.

I had lactulose under the same circumstances as Seeline.

Eating lots of dried fruit (apricots are great for this) as well as drinking plenty of water will also help!
Good luck! (with the birth, not just the piles Grin)

Lactulose is Godly Grin I had it after my ELCS with dd2. I love the taste of it and was genuinely sad when my bottle I took home from the hospital pharmacy ran out Smile

Lactulose and lots of it! Nothing worse than pregnancy constipation (well except perhaps pregnancy vomiting combined with stress incontinence!)

Thanks guys! It's just one thing I don't want to have to worry about! Remember begging for stool softener post delivery last time as was pretty 'uncomfortable' and I'd rather not have to do that again! Will also stock up on the fruits!

Glycerine suppositories, should the stool softener fail

Courgettes and garlic. I had an urge whilst b/feeding for baked tomatoes, courgettes, garlic and mozzarella. I had absolutely no problem going to the loo, and you would not believe the nappies Shock

:) I will also be sure to use that recipe! Reassuring. Somehow with all the myriad indignities, a sore bottom is just one too many!
