labour starters?

I know baby will come when they're ready...
I was so excited last weekend, I had show, some pretty painful backache & BH. I thought my baby was ready to meet us!
No such luck, but now I'm getting ridiculously impatient, because it all seemed to be starting!
My friend did a 'Labour dance' waters broke next day, baby arrived next day!
I know it's all coincidence, but wishful thinking, does anyone swear by anything?
I have tried the dance, bounced for hours on my yoga ball, walks, pineapple, sex...
Think he's stuck!

Ahh frustrating eh!? Bouncing on the ball worked for me but I know how u feel, one ds 14 days late and 1ds 6 days late... Really think these things may help but only if baby is ready. When are u due? X

I got far too giddy last weekend, now I feel a tad disappointed because he's not here, all my pregnant friends have had their babies I'm being left behind!
I'm due 10/4 so still a few weeks to go & potentially a few more if he is being very stubborn, I really don't want to go over my due date, but I know majority of first time are late!
But after last weekend I felt certain he was in his way, even my MW thought he was on his way!
I think I took my mat leave too soon, I'm just sat here waiting for baby, in between daily house cleans & reorganizing the house...
How did you cope with late babies?
One off my friends needed a sweep, gel, drip, then was told baby was too big & after 36hr labour was finally given a CS!

I know exactly how you feel poor love but u really have to do as everyone tells you and enjoy it! I know is annoying advice and u just want ur baby but this is ur last chance to really relax for a while! Watch daytime tv, wander aimlessly in shops, read books and sleep, lol. He will be here before u know it x

I know, I should be enjoying my time! I've downloaded a couple of books, non pregnancy :) & bought a couple of tubs of Ben & Jerry.
Met my friends little baby today, mAde me very giddy, but like you say made me realize I need some me time :)

Apparently a whole lot of breast/nipple stimulation works- people have been known to use their breast pumps for get labour moving.

Thanks wispa I'll give that a try.
I woke last night with pretty bad period pain & was SURE something was happening :) but no...
Ive been doing the labour dance again this morning & am going to do some bouncing on my ball - if nothing else its keeping me in shape for when labour does finally start.

Massage your tummy firmly with a flat palm clockwise circles for 1 minute, then do wide legged lunges for 3 minutes. Repeat as often as you can manage. It apparently mimicks labour & contractions.
A pregnancy yoga teacher told my friend it.
It doesn't seem to do anything for me, I do get cramps after it & tense tummy.
Let me know if it works for you :)

Ooo sounds interesting lol I don't think my spd would agree with the lunges though! How much pineapple did you have to eat to get things moving? X

I got as far as the last resort (sex) both times. Within 12 hours of dtd I was contracting regularly. Nothing else worked including a go on a bouncy castle

I had about half a pineapple the first time. The second time DH went out the morning of my due date and put it on the bedside table before I woke up. I never even had to eat any as I woke up, saw it and started having contractions! Grin

Make of that what you will... Wink

My midwife sister recommends sex

Sex worked for us, although at 6 days overdue I was probably going to go into labour that day anyway! Sex at 11am ish, first contraction at 3pm.

tell him that as he put that baby in there it is now his duty to help you to get it out.Grin

best done right after a sweep.

I read that apparently for pineapple to have any effect you have to eat eight fresh ones, in a row! Sod that wih my heartburn! I went 8 days over with no.1 and 3 days over with no.2, labour starting at around 7am and lasting for around 8 hours both times, and had sex the night before with both! My Midwife says there is something that is in sperm that is also in the drug they use to induce you when you go way over?! Good luck (my due date is Thursday :)

ZingSweetCoconut · 23/03/2014 23:18

jen

never mind the heartburn, 8 pineapples would give you mouth ulcers and exploding diarrhoea!

omri · 23/03/2014 23:31

Heehee zing- that's funny.
Jen - my midwife told me the same thing about the sperm. Isn't nature amazing?!
