Is there a correlation between mucus plug and time to labour?

Sorry if TMI but I just has a lot of clear discharge and am 37 wks.
Have googled everywhere but can't find whether this means labour is starting soon (hours/days) or whether it doesn't mean much.
Would really appreciate any knowledge / experience!
Thanks!

I thought my plug had gone at about 37 weeks. It went dramatically when I was in established labour.

Sorry, I don't think it's much of an indication.

I did lots of googling too, thinking I may miss real labour.

You cannot miss real labour.

I lost my plug 8 days before the onset of active labour. Congrats on your new baby Smile

Thanks! I really don't feel ready for it to happen in the coming days...
Thought I read somewhere that you can lose a bit of mucus plug towards the and and it can then grow back/ you can have few weeks until labour? Can anyone verify?

I lost mine on Saturday morning and had DD on Sunday morning, I was 40 + 6 though so a bit further on than you. I also had mild period pains which I think is also an indicator. Good luck!

From 39 weeks onwards I lost my MP, had 2 sweeps, lots of cramping and strong, regular BH, back aches, period pain, pain and pressure down below, dilated to 4 cm....

2 weeks later still no sign of baby.
Sorry Sad but I don't think it's any indication of labour coming soon x

Lost plug at 37+4, went into labour at 39+3. I was convinced it would happen soon after losing the plug, the wait was interminable!
Good luck & congratulations Smile

Mucous plug is not usually a clear discharge. IME it was cloudy blob with streaks of blood. Are you sure it was the plug, and not waters?

Clear discharge doesn't sound like mucus plug to me. Plug was literally a blob of brown/red goo. Increased discharge is very normal throughout pregnancy though.

I thought I'd lost my plug at about 37 weeks but when it really did go, part of it after a sweep and the rest at about 5cm, it was definitely bloody. Nothing like the 37 week yellowish jelly.

So, as stated, I was well on my way by the time my plug properly went.

It's a long time ago, but I can remember as if it was yesterday (my PFB!). I started contractions at 3.30 am, lost my plug at 11am and DS1 was born just after midnight. I was 39+2.

Thanks all... Yes since last week when I lost a bit of it (definitely plug not anything else)... Nothing has happened. Midwife said it doesn't mean anything if it comes out, or bits come out .... Only thing that means baby is coming is contractions or waters breaking.
