I'm 36 weeks and have all the symptoms I had last time but only got in the few days before birth. I have a horrible feeling that this just means the backache, pressure in bump, hot flushes, grumpiness and dreaded knitting needles up fanjo will last for at least 4 weeks this time Hmm

39.3 weeks with DC2 and I've had tonnes of "symptoms" for at least 4 weeks. I'm even lying in bed right now convincing myself that things are happening tonight. I've had a bath and the BH didn't stop which they usually do, but they seem to be getting stronger. Here's hoping!

I'm symptom spotting too. I'm 39.2 and have been having what I think are BH for about 3 hours tonight. They're tightening around my bump but pain is concentrated low down where you'd get period pain. They don't have a regular pattern so in know they're not contractions. However, I remember reading that BH should last long and should be painful whereas I'm experiencing both. I'm just assuming if they were real contractions they would have got a lot worse by now!

Crying. Night before I had both my babies I cried over something inconsequential, like eastenders, or an advert.
But with second also had lots of false starts and seemed to have labour symptoms for weeks before anything happened. The crying was the only thing common to both births. Tissues out!

JBurge and Madallie you're much closer than me so perhaps you really are on your way?

Far more likely than me anyway. I've accepted my body is aware it is going to give birth this time compared to the state blissful ignorance of last time but this all smacks of a more long term exit strategy.....!

Laying here with period pains now to add to the list.

Nothing happened here during the night! Still pregnant and BHs stopped for the time being. I've had a few teary moments of late but I think it's just because I'm so fed up. My husband must be getting so fed up of me too, I'm in such a bad mood and can't snap out of it.

Oh and I have argued!

I'm going with the line 'the baby will be out in 3 pushes' with all this 'prep' business if that helps.

I figure by the time I get to test my theory having given the allotted 3 pushes I'll be so close to not being pregnant I'll be able to take being wrong on the chin.

I'm watching with interest. Currently 38+2 and I'm not even getting very frequent or strong BH. I think this baby will wait a while. Last night I got a hot flush and v. tired but I don't think it meant anything.
I was convinced my dates were wrong and this baby would be early but now not sure.
Madallie and Jburge that sounds promising.
I remember thinking with DD that I should have just enjoyed the pre-baby phase because the newborn phase was hell but here I am, anxious to meet the baby and get the labour over and done with.

The thing is it's easier to enjoy being heavily pregnant in the summer when you are childless. But when it's winter, raining everyday, and you have a toddler, the whole thing is a lot harder! 2.2.14 is a good date to be born! Come on baby!!

any date around now would be a good time to be born! ialways read this threads to give myself hope, but baby doesnt budge (39+5).

Still pregnant here too!
I quite like the sound of todays date as a birthday.
Slight bloody show last night so thought it was on, but nothing. Rang labour ward and they said only to worry/go in if lots of blood, put pad on and no more. DD was born 9hrs after the show so was getting v excited!!
Symptom spotting it's the past time of trying to get pregnant and now waiting for baby to come out Smile

Could be tonight for you TallRedhead! Fingers crossed. I've decided my daughter is waiting until her grandparents come back from Babados next weekend!

Obviously I'm still pregnant because I still have 3.5 weeks to go but you wouldn't know it from my symptom spotting.

My friend came over to run through everything re looking after DD when it happens and it left me with delusions that it'll all happen some time soon.

JBurge is bang on the money that it's easier to enjoy it when it's summer and you don't have a 2 year old!

Fingers crossed for tallredhead.

I had DS2 at 39+5 but looking back reckon I was in labour for about two week prior - BH, general discomfort, twinges and show leaks. Even made a couple of false alarm trips to the labour ward before there was no mistaking it and he arrived 11 minutes after I arrived a third time - the midwife didn't finish reading my notes.

When it was really happening, it started like period pain crampy labour and more like some sort of upset stomach/pronounced baby movements. I couldn't keep off the loo for about an hour and once that was over had about another hour of irregular but close contractions. Good luck to you all!

I've just read the entire page of "Little Daisy-Mae" on Facebook. It's a diary of a baby born at 25weeks, written by her Dad. It's incredibly emotional and amazingly written. It's made me realise I need to stop complaining about still be pregnant and just be grateful that I'm not in that situation. Take a look ladies but get your tissues ready!! X

I honestly don't think I could. I howled at Toy Story 3 early today.

DD and DH asked me to leave the room as I was ruining it for them by hiccuping 'Andy's Mum and Woody just want their little boy back'.

You are completely correct in what you say though. We are very lucky to make it to term.

Madallie · 02/02/2014 23:14

I just had a little look at the FB page and you are so right. We are blessed and so lucky to not have to be facing this. What a brave little family.

im 38+4. I thought i went into labour on Friday, contracts started at 3pm, consistent but sporadic (2, 4, 6 and even 12 mins apart) till Saturday mid day. They were bearable.
I rang the labour unit to prewarn them and had every one on standby.
I was feeling the same as I did with my first who is 2 years old.
But when the contractions stopped the lower back ache started and hasnt gone.
For the past few hours ive felt him bed lower into my pelvic, im already very low, ive carried low with this one. The past hours its felt like he is digging my 'lady garden' from the inside. The pressure got that intense an hour ago i felt it in my bum but that substided.

Knowing this could continue for another few weeks fills me with dread!

katiechoochoo surely not another few weeks! You sound imminent!
Yes I spent first half of pregnancy praying she wouldn't come early and now I just want it over.

I cannot watch anything to do with mother/child relationship and loss nowadays or I'm a total wreck. I saw Father and Son at the cinema (Japanese film about two families whose babies are switched at birth) and I howled. So embarrassing.
At least now I am booked in at the birth centre so fingers crossed I can have my lovely water birth this time instead of the hell that was the first labour (I know, I know).
