So i had my dd by cat 1 emcs 2 years ago...dc2 is going to be arriving by elcs on the 19 Aug..confirmed today at consultant appointment. Exciting times! How can i prepare for this time around and what should I expect? Hopefully it will be a calmer experience than the first time! Any tips or personal experiences gratefully received....

I had an elective for my Ds4, it was an amazingly calm and civilised experience, recovery time was very short, no healing issues at all... The difference between that and an emergency situation ime is huge.

I was prepped in a side room, with dh gowned up, venflon thing put in my hand, and a drip thing. We were walked into the theatre, where I had to sit and get the spinal in (hardly sore), then lay back and a low screen thing put up, at my ribs, opening up felt tuggy, not sore baby pulled out and shown to me and dh, smiles all round - the stitching up takes a lot longer!

You will be fine!

Snap! I'm having an ELCS on 19th too. I had an EMCS with DD nearly 3 years ago of which I can't remember much.

Will be following this thread with interest!
