AAAAAARGGH! We convinced ourselves the baby would come a week early as he has been measuring a week larger throughout the whole pregnancy so I have been expecting him since the 29th of June!!

Just looking for sympathy really.....! And tips to get things moving!!

Acupuncture! Worked for me, walked out of the acupuncturist's office and was having contractions every 5 mins less than 3 hrs later...good luck!

No tips sorry! Nothing worked for me. I'll not mention I went 11 days over despite measuring bigger

On the plus side my dd was only 6lb 15oz despite being late and the doctors telling me she would be massive!

Clary sage oil, fresh pineapple, curry, champagne (allegedly) are all supposed to help bring on labour. As are sex and nipple rolling - but if I was overdue and dh had suggested either of these - well, let's just say that would have been our last baby!!

No practical advice. Just reassurance. You can do it. Tell your self over and over. Baby will come when baby is ready.
(I'm 38 weeks with no3. 1+2 both here by 36 weeks. Was sure she'd follow suit. ) xx

My mum is calling every day (sometimes twice a day) to see if anything has happened...this is not helping!

Champagne you say...hmmm...interesting!!

Sadly, no champers in the house, off for a walk instead!

What does clary sage oil do and how do you use it? Google says to add it to the bath or breathe it when having a contraction?

I was exactly the, same as you, measuring a week over, I was 40+5 when I finally popped, I had no signs whatsoever before that, go and have,a sweep, I had one at 7pm when I was 40+4 like you and she was out the next day after a 4 hour labour! Super quick.

I feel your pain: had DS2 5 days ago, 10 days late. Totally wasn't expecting 2nd baby to be late as first only 40 +2. Was so fed up of curry, pineapple and bloody raspberry leaf tea! I would book an induction: went into labour the night before-he clearly knew what was afoot! Same happened to a couple of my friends.
Good luck and try and bank some sleep x

I'm in the same boat as you, due date was 7th July, so I'm 5 days overdue today.
Induction is currently booked in for 19th July, which seems so far away, I can't wait a whole week!!! Baby feels big, and big babies run in my family.
Had a sweep today at 2pm and walked around for about 2 hours but not feeling like anything is happening.
Got another sweep booked for Monday (hoping I wont need it), but am gonna ask for my induction date to be brought forward cos I'm worried about having a giant baby! Let us know how you get on MostlyCake, good luck!

Still nothing! I have a sweep booked for tomorrow but am not looking forward to it - I am not convinced it will do anything which isn't going to start anyway (if you see what I mean), thinking of cancelling...

Induction booked for Thursday, hopefully wont come to that and he'll come the day before!

Gtc- I was also due the 7th! Already had a sweep and acupuncture!

Mostly cake - I don't envy you! I had an induction with dc1 and is wasn't as bad as the stories you hear!

Good luck

You have my sympathy. I have been exactly here. At this time of year when it was really hot. (obviously not in the last couple of years!)

You can do it. Clary Sage just gave me really strong braxon hicks. Sweep didn't work, neither anything else! Jasmine oil and acupuncture seemed to do the trick (but hey, I was 10 days over, so who knows!) I also went for a jog after a run away two year old. The postman looked more than slightly concerned. Induction is fine, as long as you weren't planning a home birth. Smile

Still waiting... Had some contractions last night and a show and thought that was it! Nope.....tailed off overnight and nothing at all today :-(

Walking, walking, walking and eating tonnes of pineapple... Maybe tonight!

Mostlycake - I'm 40+4 and keep having contractions stopping and starting. How frustrating is it! I saw you were measuring a week over, have had any growth scans?

Good luck all of you, I'm currently staring at DS2 who is 10 weeks old and was 2 weeks overdue.

I feel your pain, especially as everyone expected him to be premature as DS1 was born 7 weeks early! So I actually felt like I was 9 weeks overdue Grin

Enjoy those last few days of excitement knowing it will be over in a matter of days.

My DS no 2 was due yesterday(16.07.2013) had a sweep and had some period pain and strong pressure and tightenings last night. These tailed off trough the night, if baby doesn't come today then I'm back for another sweep tomorrow. I'm hoping these work as its my DS no1 birthday (29 July.) walking, pineapple(which worked with DS1 who was 3 days early), curry, sex have all failed!! 😔

if you really don't mind an induction can you get an appointment with a consultant. I got so fed up I turned up to one of my appointments with my bag packed and sat there crying and refusing to leave ... the consultant who really didn't feel comfortable with hormonal crying women sent me straight to the induction ward I had my baby the next day Grin.

I've never had to be induced as DS1 was 3 days early, I'm scared of the unknown at the minute. Couldn't have 2nd sweep today as baby's head was no longer in my pelvis. Had a bit of a tough day. X

Sorry to hear about your day eat choc. It's rubbish isn't it. I think bouncing on my ball is even getting uncomfortable now. Had what I think were three contractions this afternoon but nothing since :-(
