Heavy heavy AF 6 weeks after birth - normal?

Had ds nearly 6 weeks ago and never got my milk so am bottlefeeding. Only finished lochia flow about a week ago, but then I started a really really heavy AF yesterday. Is this normal?

I breastfed dd so didn't get an AF for 10 months and then it was really light so I wasn't expecting this. Plus it's also heavier than I've had before.

So am I normal or is there no hope for me?

My first AF after the birth of ds was very heavy with thick clots (sorry if tmi), if it continues for longer than usual I would get in touch with your gp though.

hockeymum - that's exactly what happened to me but I'm a week further on Smile. My ds was 6 weeks last week and I got my AF that day - was so heavy that I didn't actually think I'd be able to leave the house - had to use maternity pads (deep joy!). Good news is that it finished pretty much within a week, but like you, I was a bit scared as it was atrocious while it lasted.
Hope that gives some comfort.

I NEED TO ASK A QUESTION which is the opposite to the thread!! I have just started what seems to be a period, my dd is now 12 weeks old and I stopped breastfeeding about 2 weeks ago. The blood loss I'm experiencing tho, is really light and is brown, which would indicate old blood and sometimes I only have blood when I wipe after having a wee, is this normal? Whats going on. With my ds I had a relatively normal period and I was breastfeeding him at the same time.
