How long after having a c-section did you venture out & where did you go?

How long was it before you went for a stroll round the shops, park etc?

My dd was 10 days old. Went to look at a house we were thinking of buying (which we did) then went to Tesco! Could have gone out a bit sooner but was quite happy snuggled up in doors. It was the end of November.

Had dc3 Sunday night but not allowed to go home until weds night (not feeding well something to to with blood tests I forget even though it was only 2 weeks ago!) walked school/preschool run the next day. Half hour walk each way though it took me longer!! Was EMCS but have to get kids to school etc. was dreading recovery but for md has been fine plus with no other help and two other young dc you just get on with it grin

After 5 days with first EMCS. Was driven to the park and walked about a bit, probably slightly too long a walk, but had to walk back to car and didn't know my limit. Was sore for a few days after that.

After a week with second EMCS.

Everybody is different, my recovery was different for each CS, so listen to your body. If you do go for a walk, start small (to local park/round the block), pace yourself and if you start to feel sore then stop and rest. A CS is major abdominal surgery, it is easy to forget that.

Thank you all.

I had cs on Thursday and was discharged Friday teatime. Felt like I needed some fresh air today but decided to keep my swollen elephant feet up for today and I'm going to venture out tomorrow but not too far.

Ooooh congratulations Rico - did you have a boy or a girl?

I did some gentle walks to the local shops (no more than 10 minutes) after about a week or so after both of my sections. But you do heal very quickly, you can feel yourself getting stronger every day - if all heals properly of course!

With both mine I went home after 24 hours then went to the supermarket with DP next day. I wanted to get out and I wanted to show off my babies! Went for walk to library (10 mins) when both were six days old. Take it gently and be guided by your body, if you're tired rest and watch your bleeding. I did go for a three mile walk when dc2 was 2 weeks, that was a bit much.

I was in hospital 3 nights then started going out for very gentle walks as soon as I got home. Not pushing the pram at that stage but just shuffling along. Found it very refreshing after time in hospital and lots of sitting on the sofa feeding etc. So i would definitely recommend gentle walks and fresh air but as other have said make sure you don't over-do it in the early days as that will just set you back recovery wise.

Thank you minty, we've got a beautiful girl.

I was in hospital for a week after cs with ds, so it was a shock to be out so soon this time.

I'm going to venture out tomorrow just for a short stroll/shuffle. i will take it easy as i don't want to take backwArds steps in recovering. I'm itching to buy something for dd as we did not know what we were having & everything we have is neutral colours !
