One kidney= being induced

Hi i am 36+4 weeks pregnant and i have only got one kidney so i am classed as high risk, i had an appointment with my consultant today and he said he would like me to get my midwife to book me a date to be induced because he doesnt want me to go over due. Has anyone else has this?
I have had no problems in my pregnancy so why would he want me to be induced?

I imagine problems are most likely in last few weeks or pregnancy; balance of risks is that baby is now sufficiently cooked that no need for you to take any more risks.

My mother had only one working kidney thru 2 pregnancies, including twins. Nobody knew until decades later, though.

They can't force you to be induced, you know. Keep asking questions until you are satisfied with the answers.

My friend only has one kidney and afaik there was never any mention of induction. She had some extra monitoring during pregnancy but that was all.

I have one kidney, as I was a live donor 3 years ago. I'm now pregnant with my second baby and there has never been any mention of me being high risk. I had a home birth first time and am planning the same again. I realise that my reason for having only one kidney is probably different but if you are otherwise healthy I don't see why it would make a difference. Plenty of people only have one kidney and don't even know.

I had to have my kidney removed due to an accident 5yrs ago, i use to have lots of UTI's but havent had any since being pregnant.
