OK, contractions, either do something useful or stop.

I am 39+5.
Had a show yesterday morning. Cramps all day yesterday - some more painful than others, and all over the place in terms of timing - I had them seven minutes apart and then nothing for an hour. At about 3.00 this morning the cramps turned into contractions and I haven't slept since.
Low down, very very painful and getting more and more so. But twenty minutes apart and still not getting any closer together, nine hours later. Hospital don't want to know until they are ten minutes apart.
This needs to either stop or move on a stage coz this is doing my head in.
Can people send 'hurry up' vibes my way please.

Same happened to me with no 3. Very irregular contractions.
Hospital did not want me in until they were blah blah apart.. Can't remember minutes now, sorry.
It was very frustrating.. But, they did build in intensity. And were becoming unbearable.
Hang in there. I bounced on the ball watching a DVD in our bedroom!.

I'm 39+5 too babybythesea and am thoroughly fed up!

I haven't had as much crampiness/contracting as you by the sounds of it but on several occasions now I've been quite shocked at the intensity of a contraction that came from nowhere. It left me feeling a bit frightened about how things will be once I actually get going as there was certainly no build up or warning. Aside from that I've had a few bouts of period style discomfort which is fine really.

I had a couple of hours of very irregular contracting yesterday evening in terms of intensity and timings, accompanied by constant dull backache. Today, nothing so far. Had my first anxiety dream about birth last night though.

Haven't had any sign of a show yet but baby feels like it's dropped further from 2/5 engaged which is where he was a couple of weeks ago. Resulting in unpleasant (although brief thankfully!) stabbing pains in my cervix.

Is this your first baby? It's my first so despite my natal hypnotherapy practice I'm starting to feel a bit worried about what's in store...

I should take some of my own advice which would be to keep busy within realms of comfort and distract yourself as much as possible. We could be in for a bit of a wait yet but desperately hoping not :)

I'm exactly the same. I'm having them irregularly but haven't had a show yet. Feeling a bit fed up and wish it would either go or get stronger.

you have all my sympathy x
