Which ones were you on after an ELCS and how long did you take them?

NB: not actually pregnant yet but ttc no2 and already know I will require a section next time. I have a nearly 3yo and will want to bounce back ASAP!

I was given cocodamol / tramadol immediately afterwards and given a prescription for two weeks worth to take home. Also offered oral morphine for 36 hours afterwards, which I took. Some people dont like the effect, but I loved it Grin. didnt have any significant pain after either an emergency section or a planned one, and stopped taking the painkillers after about a week. But I was told by my health visitor they would prescribe again for another fortnight if I needed.

Good luck!

I piggy-backed ibuprofen with paracetamol. It worked well ans didn't need to faff about with repeat prescriptions.

Liquid morphine in hospital until I realised that was making me itch insanely, then I stopped that.
Just been sent home with a weeks worth of cocoedamol and diclofenic.

Ahhhh, the liquid morphine. Heady, heady (two) days.

Diclofenic (sp?) and some horrendous iron tabs that made me unable to poo for about two weeks.

I had paracetamol and diclofenac regularly while in hospital, along with oxycodone if needed. I think I had about 4 doses of that for breakthrough pain. Was also prescribed morphine but never needed it. I went home with diclofenac which I took regularly until about 10 days post op. By 2 weeks post op I needed nothing at all.

Had the lovely morfine shots in the hospital couple of times in the first day or two . Then home with codeine , probably diclofenac type of one and paracetamol ( and iron ,lost a lot of blood). Took codeine for the first week , then paracetamol and diclofenac for several weeks . I do feel the first week is the worst and after 2-3 you are feeling much better!

Oh mine CS was an emergency and I did have a lot of pain and took the painkillers for longer than a lot of my friends who had an elcs the second time around ...

Emergency c section here.
Some painkiller (I have no idea what!) was put in as a suppository straight after babe was whipped out.
Paracetamol and ibuprofen since, with just the onie dose of oramorph the day after.
17 days later, I've taken 1 ibuprofen today (scar infection, without it I guess I may have already healed) and hope to be on nothing from tomorrow!
Like NordicMom I also lost a lot of blood and am on iron tablets, I'm not sure if this affects the pain levels though!
