Shepherd's purse & other herbs/oils

I'm vaguely interested in the idea of putting together a selection of herbs & oils for a post-birth bath but I have no clue about such things! Does anyone have any suggestions about which herbs/oils would be useful?

I did a bit of googling & shepherd's purse came up a lot with some websites suggesting that it be made into a tea & drunk during labour to help contractions & avoid pph. I had a small pph after having DS1 & had to transfer in from my homebirth. I'd like to avoid that this time if possible but I'm a little scared of taking random herbs! Has anyone used it during labour? Where can I get it from that doesn't involve me going wandering round fields & picking the wrong stuff?!

No? Just me then! Grin

Just incase anyone is interested, I found this website which includes a list of what they say is/isn't safe during pregnancy & labour. Interestingly, Shepherd's Purse is listed as not safe, as are several others due to the fact that they can cause uterine contractions. I thought that was a good thing if you're in labour or at risk of pph! Confused
