My waters just broke!!!

Its time, at last! Waters broke at 5:15.. Feeling a bit crampy(period like) but not much else happening, water is still coming away. Phoned triage and they told me to call back at 7 and they would assess wether i should come in tonight or not! Will i be meeting my baby soon? How long before they admit me to ramp things up? First timer here!!! 40+5 btw, so ready to have this baby!!!

How exciting, stay calm, make sure you have everything ready in case they take you in. You'll be meeting baby fairly soon.

Very exciting! Do you need to call anyone? Remember to eat incase things move quickly and you can't later.

Ooooh, I'm very jealous, 40+2 and really want mine to go too. To answer your question, in my trust they'll let you go 24 hours after waters go before inducing you (although you can obviously refuse induction if you want to)

Good luck x

Woo hoo! You're having a baby!! Grin

No way of knowing how long it's going to take though, could be a while yet, especially if you're actually contracting yet but it will happen Smile

Best of luck.

Waters going was my first sign both times. DD was born after 31hrs, DS after 38hrs.

I am crap at birthing though. Grin

How exciting. Camera all charged? Space on memory cards? Snacks packed? Light snack and drinks now. Don't be marching about and climbing stairs trying to 'speed things up'. Conserve energy and very soon you'll be cuddling a baby. How marvellous.

Exciting, good luck. My waters went at about midday with DD, started having mild contractions and by 2.20pm they realised I was fully dilated so it can happen nice and quickly. Just a shame DD was breech and I had to have a section!

Oooh, how exciting. My waters went around 4am and contractions didn't start until midday but DD was born just before 9pm and all went smoothly.

Try to get some rest whilst you can!!

Good luck

That's how DD1 started (she was a bit early) and 20 hours later she arrived.

Get your feet up and rest, sleep if you can (I couldn't).

Best wishes.

They might want to give syntocinon after 24 hours if you're not contracting, but that's entirely up to you as to whether you have it or not. If you're a bit crampy then I'd not worry about this time tomorrow just yet Grin

I'd just do nothing this evening - no running up and down stairs etc, popping to/from hospital (unless things are happening!) - sit down, relax, eat something. The more relaxed you are, the more likely things are to get going Smile

Good luck!

Exciting! Most hospitals say they expect you to go into labour within 24 hours I think some let you go 36 before starting to induce. Either way in a couple of days maximum you will have your beautiful new baby to cuddle.

I'm very jealous, 41 + 1 today, DD went to 42 + 1 with induction so I'm not expecting anything soon! Good luck I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly :)

Not wanting to worry you but my DS arrived 57 minutes after waters broke and first contraction!!!!!

Thanks for all the lovely replies girls! Just to update, been to hospital and they confirmed my waters have gone, been sent home for things to progress on there own and if nothing happens booked in for an induction at 8am on friday! Starting to have some increasingly intense contractions now so hoping this is itGrin i asked if i could have a bath and she said yes thats fine. I was always under the impression you couldnt after the membranes had ruptured!
