I had one after first birth ...had somethin a lot more drastic than that..was livin in dubai at the time and had an indiam midwife come in daiy for a massaje and she would put cotton wrap around me like a mummy...really really tite...not very comfly but made my belly flat very quick....bit sad i cant wear anythin of the sort this time round cuz of elective c section'
i did also purchse the pharmacy ones but they arent half as effective...they werent wide enouf so had to wear two ...only wear them durin the day never sleep with them...the extra pounds i put on took a while to shed but the tummy did chanje from a flab to a tihter surface

If you use a support instead of your muscles how are you ever going to get your stomach muscles working properly again? What do medical professionals advise?

MIL knows older women who have always worn corset type undergarments. They can barely support themselves if they aren't wearing their undies.

I never used anything after my daughter was born and my tummy went flat within a week or so. I was just interested to see if anyone found them beneficial, especially after subsequent labours.

I have the Tupler Technique book and she talks about wearing a 'splint' which is basically a length of cotton fabric wrapped tightly around to help correct the muscle separation. I'm doing this today, using the length of fabric from a baby sling, and it's definitely reminding me to do the muscle exercises all the time, and to keep good posture.

The midwives in hospital gave me tubigrips to wear which stopped my internal organs feeling like they were falling out (!) but I don't think they are tight enough to hold in the muscles.

I think for me it mainly helped me sweat whatever water was retained in my middle and helped the stretched skin bein supported back to normal ...i dont think it did anythin to the muscles...also some air must be released from the abs...'
i swear by it makin my belly flatter quick...not toned just the hankin flab went
this time a c section so may not be able to wear it
