I am 41+5 with my second baby and was due to be induced today!
I've been awake sinced 3am. Having mildly painful contractions every 3-4 mins but only lasting 30-40 seconds. Can't sit still during them and have to walk around.
I've got the tens machine on and taken some paracetamol but don't want to wake up my DH yet, as it could be ages yet.
Someone keep me company... :0)

I'm awake! Have you had a show or waters yet? Exciting times.. Are you hoping fir a hospital or home birth? And was your first labour quick? This may be quicker... x

Hi Winterland, no show or waters, but didn't last time. CTX's are getting more painful now. last one was 1 minute.
Last labour was 27 hours! so need to stay at home a bit longer this time....
can't remember any of the breathing exercises i'm supposed to do!

In through the nose and out through the mouth. I count for three when I do it.. Is it worth waking the DH yet?

Well hopefully this one will be somewhat shorter! Is it too soon for a bath? Got to stay calm and breath through each contraction. I almost went into myself and went silent to get through each one. Is the tens helping? And wake your dh for some support!!

Ah good luck, so exciting. Walking up and down stairs is good for getting head in a good position, and second the bath, although at 3 mins apart maybe you should be heading in.

Wont do any harm to warn them. How far away is it?

Report
liznay · 05/10/2011 06:26

about half a mile down the road! just phoned them and they said to see how i am over the next hour...
Stairs are very creaky... the whole house will wake up :0)
forgot how painful even mild contractions are!

Good luck op.

With my dc3 my ctx never lasted a full min and never really settled into a routine,

I completely recommend listening to your own body, if you feel ready to go in, go.

Hope you've got a lovely baby in your arms very soon.

It's so strange how you forget the contraction pain but the minute it starts you remember, :-) really think you'll be quicker this time, mine have all got faster each time,
If you can't do the stairs, standing and rocking, rotating through the contractions can really help,
and always remember each contraction you have is one more ticked off.
Have everything crossed for you
