I gave birth a week and a half ago, and it all seemed to go ok, just a tiny tear and graze, with a couple of stitches.
But peeing is agony, I have to pee in the shower everyday. If go in the toilet I'm in tears :( even if I squirt water there. Ive tried the baths with lavender and tee tree, but nothing seems to help.
Ive been given antibiotics for infection, and my Mw did an internal and said my stitches have dissolved and it looks ok.

Has anyone else had this? if so how long did it last? I just want to be normal again, thank you in advance!

Poor you! :(

It will go, it just takes time... my DD is now 4 weeks old and I am starting to feel a bit more normal, keep taking the paracetemol.

Take care of yourself. Drink loads of water because it will help to dilute the wee.

I have been thinking that the first few days/weeks after childbirth are really unfair and horrible - you just want to get on with your life with your lovely baby, don't you, but instead you have to deal with hobbling around, bleeding and struggling with wee/poo!

A friend of mine swore by peeing into a washing up bowl of warm salty water with a bit or lavender in as she was also in agony any other way. Hope it improves for you soon.

i used to pour a big jug of water down over my bits as i weed, after having each of my children i did this religiously and it really helped, i made sure it was lukewarm so not too hot or too cold and i would lean back on the toilet to do it and it really helped.

I used distilled Witch Hazel on a sanitary towel to help with the pain, I kept it in the fridge. I also peed in the bath or a bowl of warm water. It will get better.

Oh god I sympathise with you. After my first I was 'only grazed' but by god the pain. I cried every time I gad to go to the loo. Agony. The only thing that soothed it was a large jug of warm water poured as you go, but it still hurt. Time will heal x

Oh you poor thing, I remember it well :( I know it feels like nothing will ever be normal down there again but it will, I promise. Until then, wee wherever you can.

How much are you drinking? You need to aim for about a pint an hour to reduce the strength of the urine to stop it stinging. It will get better though. Where was the graze? My sister grazed near to the clitoris (I've no idea how!) and she said it stung for 3 or 4 weeks afterward. The graze takes longer to heal than a tear that is stitched

As others have said, pour warm water over your bits while you pee - keep the jug in the loo.

Also wash your bits in an arnica bubble bath if you can - I used to sit on a bucket and splash water over them - helps with healing. Also some arnica healing gel if you can get some.

Did you give birth in an upright position? was kneeling for dd3 and it was a fab position but I did have a small tear wuite high up which did indeed hurt like a bastard for a bit Grin It will get better. I agree with the advice to drink a LOT and use bath/warm water.

Ouch! After ds2 was born I had to fill up a mop bucket with cold water and sit in that to pee Blush Sad. It was horrific but I promise it will get better.

Drink as much as possible......then drink a bit more.

It dilutes the urine, you should be fine then.

I was like this with Dd1, you have my sympathy. Like Imnotaslimjim said, make sure you drink lots of water. It seems odd because you'll naturally think noooooo! that'll just make me pee more! But it really does help dilute the urine and make it sting less, and the last thing you need is a urine infection on top of it all.

I had the exact same thing and it really was torture. I had to pour water (measuring jug is best) over my bits as I weed to dilute the acid but it was still painful. What sorted it was salt baths - sounds counter intuitive but it works. Run a shallow, Luke warm bath and pour lots of table salt in and swoosh to dissolve a bit. Then squat over the water ( so squat lengthways along the bath IYKwIM) and splash the water up into your vagina. It wont hurt I promise - its not like rubbing salt into the wound! Do this twice a day and you should get a result in a few days. Good luck.

Before anyone says it I don't really mean you should try and get Ayer into your vagina - I know that's a bad idea. I just mean splash the water upwards onto your squatting bits. The reason you should squat not sit is to get the water onto all your bits.

Can you lean right forward when you wee, as if trying to touch your toes? I did that to make the wee go forward into the loo, away from the bloody mess problem area. Depends where your tear is of course but it might help.

Ayer??? Shut UP iPhone! Water, obviously.

Poor you, it is horrible but it does heal.

I second the salt baths. Helps it heal quickly. (although I did sit in it)

Oh God, I remember that. I tore my labia and had to pee in the bath for more than a week after DD1. Even the pouring water over didn't work as the water coming into contact with the tear was painful! It got better fairly quickly after that but was dreading it after DD2 but had no pain at all the 2nd time!
It will get better.

oh wow thanks for so many replies :)
its good to know that its healed for you all! I will try a salty water bath, I haven't tried that one yet. I'm not sure where its torn or grazed exactly, but I will have some more to drink now and then some more again :)
Thanks for the moral support :) x
