Brow presentation: after-effects?

As above really. Was anyone's baby brow and were there any after-effects for your baby, particularly if your labour was augmented?

My baby was brow, hospital didn't notice (well, in fact, one MW did but she didn't tell anyone other than us). Labour was augmented and we're sure that the resulting time spent having his head used as a battering ram against my pelvis is what's left him with some interesting "issues" in his neck, shoulders and back.

Not had any luck with the conventional bods so am seeing a CO who specialises in babies and trying to build up his muscles with gentle physio.

Would love to hear from anyone else who's experienced similar and has any tips for what else might help.

Hi my DD was brow presentation. I had an EMCS though because although I got to pushing stage she never descended from pelvis and was well and truly stuck. She had no after effects that I'm aware of, apart from bruising to her face from being bashed against my pelvis bone (as you said) but this quickly disappeared.

Thanks HoHo, that's interesting. My DS had a sort of ring running from his brow to the middle of his scalp and some swelling, but no bruising. I got to the pushing stage (7cm at home and then the final three with the aid of synto (they didn't realise he was brow) then had an EMCS too (I don't think there's any other way in the majority of cases!). Did you get to the pushing stage on your own or were your waters broken/synto drip used?

My waters broke naturally but I was given synto from about 3-4 cm as my progress was very slow (contractions started Friday, DD born Tuesday). DD didn't respond well to synto though, so I only had the lowest dose. Not sure if this would have made things easier for DD in the long run.

She was bruised around her nose / eyes and forehead and her head was a bit pointy! She was also bleeding on her forehead where they'd taken blood from her whilst she was still inside me (to check her oxygen levels I think). She looked a mess poor thing. It sounds like your DS was worse though sad

I had my son last year via EMCS for brow. He had severe bruising which went from his forehead to his lip apart from that which cleared quickly, he did have jaundice also put down to the bruising and red blood cells woring overtime he has had no other issues so far. I was pushing for 3.5 hours before a consultant confirmed he was brow.

I arrived at hospital pushing.

Thanks. nunnie. That sounds really difficult - 3.5 hours pushing and nothing moving. Glad to hear he recovered quickly though.

I took DS to a CO with similar issues. You'll be pleased to know that after 2 sessions he was like a different baby - much calmer and more settled. Good luck!

Thanks backwardspossum. We've had 8 sessions and they have helped, though there were/are other issues which is I suspect why we're not quite there yet.
