Another Blooming Heck - Anyone Up thread? Is this it - shall I call in the cavalry?

Do you think this could be it? I need to make a call as have 2 DCs to arrange for (one starting school today!) and antibiotics to have in labour..

So am 39 + 2 with DC3. Niggling backache and crampy pelvic pain all day, and a few really quite breath-taking BHs during the evening. 3 or 4 good, ahem, clear-outs in the last few hours and backache thats got me pacing about and making herbal tea at this godforsaken hour .. Painful contractions continue on and off, but no real pattern - probably about/at least 20 mins apart, although a few closer together.. what do you think? Shall I phone for GPs who are 1 hour away? Shall I call labour suite? Last labour was 4 hrs start to finish so a bit jumpy!!

Call the midwife. Who is on standby for childcare? How did your last labours start?

Yes - call MW - could be speedy.

DD2 was speedy for me - no other signs than a bit of niggling cramp & backache - called MW - was 7cm. Can you get one to come & have a look?

My labours started differently so no real help there.

Yes call - always call - better an idiot than an idiot with a head emerging between her legs.....

So, I've called GPs - who have their poor 70-something butts on the motorway as we speak.. will feel mightily guilty if its all a false alarm.. Called MW who was lovely but basically could only say "watch and wait", "go back to bed", "see what happens". Now am having a nice cup of tea, waiting for poor GPs, having smallish painfulish contractions every 20 mins or so, and hoping to make it through to walk DC1 to school at 9-o-clock tomorrow morning... anyone want to put bets on?! I'm thinking it will all stop the second GPs arrive!

I'm betting 5.20 birth.

You're not walking DC1 to school.

No way.

I hope you can walk your Dc to school on first day.

Good luck!

5.20 you say? Well, should be fine for a 9am stroll then... Sodding contractions till sluggish but not imaginary. DC1 was 28 hours of grumbling back to back, DC 2 was 4 hours 0-6 style so no idea what to expect this time!!

Currently in a state of slightly disbelieving shock that, after spending all summer prepping Dc1 for how we are going to have a lovely little starting-school, healthy breakfast, uniform photos, congrats card, lots of fuss, walk down the road together routine it might actually end up with GPs doing it-! DC1 will be fine - but I will be heart-broken! Actually feeling quite cross with DC3!!!

So all on track til 4am, decent contractions got to 7 mins apart, all feeling very real, and then they suddenly stopped and I got some sleep until anxious DC arrived in our bed at 6.30am! Feeling very achey and crampy, but no more actual contractions this morning, so am up making lasagne for tea now. Very pleased I will get to do the 9am stroll and hopefully this will get things going again as we now have (sightly tired and grumpy) GPs in residence! Think this is the famous "stop-start" 3rd labour!!?

Still taking bets!
