Hi ladies..
I have been told I have a hematoma around my scar after my cesarean 2 weeks ago. It hurts when I start to do thongs but ok when I have my feet up.
Had anyone else had one and if so how long did it take to go and what were you given for it if anything????

Hi, yes I had this and I feel for you, they are so painful. In my case mine burst shortly after my long running stitch thingy was taken out and it was an instant relief. There was a scary amount of blood though. It then became infected so I had anti b's.I believe they sometimes disperse internally. The gp would be the best person to help. Mine did a home visit.

I had them (well, seromas) after another abdominal surgery - eye-wateringly painful and made me delirious - one was over 1 litre and had to be emptied via syringe as I was healing just too damned well on the outside for them to burst.

All in all they took around 6 weeks to go away - and the associated pain - and I was still needing them syringed empty after 4. Those were extreme though.

It was probably my own fault - I've never been one to "lie down and take it easy" - so was off on 2 hour hikes out in the forest just a few days post surgery. Blush

Thanks for your reply ladies. Thing is my scar is healing well so I don't think it will burst so wondering if this is worse as will take longer to get rid of it naturally. Obviously with a new baby I want the pain to go quickly as making it difficult to to things.
Do you have to go into hospital to have it sryinged/drained?
Has anyone else had it go naturally without it being drained???
Making me feel sad as has such a brilliant pregnancy and birth just want to get back on my feetSad

I had a hematoma after a normal delivery, albeit with complications. They took me for a scan 3 days after giving birth, I had no idea what was going on! It must have gone away naturally as I did not have any draining.
