Advice re urodynamics

Have posted this in general health on the "raggedy bits" thread, but thought I'd post here too.
Gave birth to DC1 10 months ago and have sustained several birth injuries. I've been left with a cystocele, rectocele, detached pelvic floor under the perineum (and displaced coccyx - but that's for another thread!). I've been using Neurotrac Continence in physio and my pelvic floor function has improved, but I am still heading for surgery. Before we draw up the final list of what's needed, I'm having urodynamics done next week to find out if I need a sub-urethral tape. I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice about what this is like, what usually happens, does it hurt, does it hurt afterwards? Be grateful for any advice! Thanks you.

Hiya! My mum had urodynamics as a standard pre op test before her cystocele repair. This was back in December so forgive me my memory is a bit sketchy. She had to do a weeks worth of diary notes of her fluid intake and urine output. Then had a series of different quantities worth of fluid pumped into her bladder via a catheter to test her strength and control. I remember she got a uti after from the catheter which is a common side effect I think so make sure you drink loads of water after. All the best for your surgery!

Hi again! Grin Thanks. Very mindful of UTIs and have got gynae to prescribe antibiotics to take afterwards. Did she say whether it hurt her? I'm not expecting it to be that pleasant but am hoping it's not going to be too painful?
