How long did you have to wait for an ELCS?

I know this is a piece of string kind of question... but we are booked in for an ELCS and have to be at the hosp at 7. 30 am. I'm just wondering how long, on average, you have to wait before you actually have the operation.

This will be in Sept btw which I know is a busy month...

There were 3 booked in when i had mine. delayed because of an emergency section, but even so we were all with our babies by 1pm.

I was told to be at the hospital by 8 am, and that I was scheduled around 10/10:30 am. However, there were a lot of EMCS's/instrumental deliveries that needed to be done in theatre, so I didn't go in til somewhere around 5pm...

Which was a long wait! It was a bit draining, but I understood why it was happening. I was supposed to be nil by mouth for all that time, and hadn't eaten/drunk since midnight. They were about to put me on a drip for hydration when I went into theatre. In fact, I had snuck a cup of tea and a mouthful of cereal bar shortly beforehand. Not advisable really, but I was feeling so thirsty. It didn't cause any problems, I wasn't sick.

I've had two and have always been first on the list. Some poor woman though was there from 8 and didn;t have hers until 3pm. She must hyave been starving!

It also depends on whether there are any emergencies, as you will get bumped down the list.

I went to Kings and they have a dedicated ELCS team that don't deal with EMCS so the ELCS are always on time.

Thanks guys!

Yes, I am thinking the EMCSs must bunk you down the list a bit, understandably. I will be nil by mouth so I hope I don't have to wait the whole day, like fb. I think I will bring a good book to be on the safe side...
