Hi,
I'm currently 34+4 under midwife care at Maryhill Health Centre and booked in at the Southern General. I've only recently been made aware of the CMU at the RAH. The midwife told me I need a referral from my GP to be able to have my baby there. I've been told it's much quieter and the pro-natural birth and experienced midwife team appeals to me.

However, I'm concerned that it's rather late in the game to be changing venues - early on my my pregnancy the SG and Royal mixed up my notes and left me all confused where I was supposed to go, ping-ponging between the two. I'm worried I'm inviting yet another mix-up. Plus, will I get post-natal midwife care/visits at home still from the Maryhill midwives? They are very good...

Many thanks for any opinions!

Didn't want to see your post go unanswered but I'm not sure TBH.

I had my baby at SGM in December and couldn't fault them. I do remember that they were very busy and were taking overspill from the RAH.

Must agree re the Maryhill CM though. They are fab.

Good luck with whatever you decide Smile

Hi,
I didnt end up giving birth at the CMU as i ended up consultant led, however i did have a very good experience so can recommend the RAH. I'm sure you would be able to change venues but i would do it sooner rather than later!

Hi it is not too late to transfer your care .Have your midwife or GP at Maryhill send a referral to the RAH and you will be welcomed. You already have hand held notes from SGH and these can be utilised by the RAH, They are the same health board so everything will be simple.
