Would love to hear your experiences please as currently deciding where to give birth and as I'm relatively new to the area don't know many mums to ask!

Thanks

I had both my dcs there (nearly 7 years ago though). My experience was that it was a very busy place and they don't always have as much time for you as you might need.

Births were very different. Staff too inexperienced with ds. Great with dd.

Each time I left as quickly as I could and transferred to Greenways in Chippenham for a couple of days (don't know if you can still do that). Greenways was much calmer - but no facilities for difficult births.

Thanks Goosey. I guess every birth is different!! Dh asked me to look into Private care but it doesn't seem to exist outside of London and I think it's a bit expensive if the pregnancy is pretty straightforward (I can think of better things to spend £10-15k on!!!)

I might look in to a doula.......

I think you are right - every birth is different and if I was having no.3, would still probably have it at the RUH.

Best of luck.

My friend had her dc there and has nothing but praise for the care she received there. And about how clean it was, friendly. She had antenatal admissions too so saw both sides. Superb support with breastfeeding, she said they were really patient with her and she left feeling confident about feeding. It was busy, but someone came every time she latched her baby on.
